U.S. Blew $34 Million on Unused Afghan Facility Now Likely to Be Torn Down

Basically I do not know why we need to dig in everywhere to begin with; it's not needed and too costly. :?

These are just drops in the bucket of the passionate ways the government wastes money building things they don't need, to house weapons they don't want, in places they don't want to be. Then, they change their mind.

I have a personal interest in the Yucca Mtn. storage facility, closed by Harry Reid for political, not practical purpose. Not only was the development money wasted, the USG will be paying billions more in settlement fees to the power companies who participated in the project because they are overflowing with nuclear waste. How stupid is that? How can you throw away so much with so many negative effects? Sure, some day they'll start over somewhere else (or get a less fanatical president) and the problem will be solved. A few billions more will be spent, development will start and some nutty Senator will grab the ear of the POTUS and they'll start over agin. In the meantime, huge MIC contractors are on CPFF (Cost Plus Fixed Fee) contracts with nice fat profits and little incentive to be efficient.

Why? I contend that it is 50% corruption and that nothing is done unless it benefits the right people. $34 million isn't more to their minds than $3.40 is to you. The other 50% is the sheer stupidity of the political panderers that are awarded roles in the decision making process that are utterly incompetent at management. Management is an innate skill. Not everyone has this skill, others have greater or lesser skills. So, many dumb decisions are made and money is thrown around.

Politicians. The skill of being important. It would be funny if it were happening somewhere else.

Yep, nothing to cut here we need more revenue.
