Hey, now that I think of it, ever hear anything on the plight of the Iraqi refugees on FoxNews? Neither have I to be honest. I have a sneaking suspicion that Rush Limbaugh never discusses that subject on his show either, dittos for Sean Hannity.

Yet there they are, about 3.7 million 'displaced by violence in the war-ravaged nation'. What do we do with them?

It seems President Bush's resolve will be to send 20,000, battle-weary, thinly-streched American troops to possibly help. Hmmm, I wonder if that will suffice?

U.N. wants $60M to help scattered Iraqi refugees - CNN.com

UNITED NATIONS (CNN) -- As up to 50,000 Iraqis flee their homes every month, the U.N.'s refugee agency said Monday that it will seek $60 million this year to help the roughly 3.7 million people displaced by violence in the war-ravaged nation.

The problem is larger than mere displacement, A U.N. news release states, as women are increasingly forced to resort to prostitution and reports of child labor problems are on the rise.

Also, in Syria, where hundreds of thousands of Iraqis are seeking refuge, about 30 percent of Iraqi children are not in school and more than 10 percent of Iraqi families are headed by women...

KidROCKS,
That has to be about the most fatuous comment you have ever made on these posts.
Nothing about what the UN wants for these refugees, just some ridiculous comments supposedly from some commentators.
No, we do not give $60 Million to the UN, to do so would be to merely further line their pockets.
Most of these refugees are safely esconced in other countries, and those countries are not pleading for cash to house them.
The UN is a conglomerate of nearly every country in the world, this includes most of the Oil exporting country's so let them sort it out.

Did you not read past my comments on Rush and Hannity?

Your hate is sometimes very fuuny, kid. How are 20,000 troops, who haven't yet been sent, already battle-weary?

I'm glad CNN is finally casting off the mask of journalism and embracing what it really is: a political tool for the far far left.

This clears the way for the rise of a new network half way in between cnn and fox that hasn't been perverted by politics.

First of all what proof do you have that the money will not get to the right place? Except generalizing from the food and oil program? Because then you can also say that USA is just about corruption because USA mission in Iraq hasn't been exactly free from corruption.

Also if you read the article alot of the money will go to refugee in Jordan. And if you know anything about Jordan you should know it is a poor country that is already packed with palestinian refugees. So I don't think Jordan have much money to take care of the new refurgee that is coming to there country. Also as you can see the UN will not just through the money on all refurgee but concentrate on the worst off.

And finally why should USA be part of paying? Shouldn't you be responsible for both the good and negative conseqveunces of the Iraq war?

Also I find it intersting that some Americans find it crazy left wing to report on the refurgee in and outside Iraq. And also that it's crazy left wing to report about news realeses from the UN. Or maybee it's just the combanition some american thinks it to much left wing.

Its the usual crap. Americans believe that the UN Oil for Food was this huge expensive scandal, where as facts disprove this, but of course the media and politicans dont mention that.

Oil-for-Food: Facts

are the numbers for the oil for food program, plus the site has the facts, both from the UN and from various US senate reports.

But after all the UN is seen as a vilian in the US, so anything it does is bad and wrong. Not to mention that most americans, media and US politicians ignore the massive fraud of the US administration of Iraq after the invasion.. maybe with a new congress, there finally will be some investigations done. The unoffical estimates have put the possible fraud in much larger sums than Oil for Food or at least equal.

Also that the US is totaly responsible for the number of Iraqi refugees these days also seems to blow past most americans. That there are reported more displaced people in Iraq and outside of Iraq than there are displaced people in Darfur. Another fact that almost never surfaces in the US debate.

In the end.. 60 million is peanuts.
