title in full: Two million federal workers receive memo warning they can’t use the word ‘resist’ or discuss Trump impeachment at work

All federal workers have received a memo warning that they cannot discuss the possibility of Donald Trump being impeached at work, reports the New York Times.
The memo went out Wednesday to about 2 million workers.
The memo said it was “illegal for them to participate in such discussions at work,” the Times reports.
... “Advocating for a candidate to be impeached, and thus potentially disqualified from holding federal office, is clearly directed at the failure of that candidate’s campaign for federal office,” the memo said.
Because Trump is already running for re-election in 2020, the letter contends that arguments about his policies or impeachment prospects are “effectively statements in support or opposition to his campaign,” the paper reports.

The memo also tells workers they cannot use the word “resist.”

“We understand that the ‘resistance’ and ‘#resist’ originally gained prominence shortly after President Trump’s election in 2016 and generally related to efforts to oppose administration policies,”the letter said. “However, ‘resistance,’ ‘#resist’ and similar terms have become inextricably linked with the electoral success (or failure) of the president.” ...

to me, this message to federal workers was unnecessary. feds subject to the hatch act - almost all of them - are annually briefed about the prohibition to bring partisan politics into the workplace

is team tRump running scared

... In any administration, one man’s principled resistance is another’s outrageous defiance. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), Trump’s nominee for attorney general, said in 2015 that it is the obligation of a federal worker to stand up against improper orders.
In a confirmation hearing for Yates, Sessions said: “You have to watch out, because people will be asking you do to things you just need to say no about. . . . Like any CEO, with a law firm — sometimes the lawyers have to tell the CEO: ‘Mr. CEO, you can’t do that. Don’t do that.’ ” ...

... standing up for what is right can have consequences. Federal employees know they can be right and right out of a job. ...

while i disagree with those who insist tRump was wrong to send out that warning, that he can does not mean it was a good idea ... unless it was intended to be intimidating. and then it would be [your opinion here]

Wait! Wait! ... wait...

Are you telling me Trump is insecure? I'm shocked!

or is he a bully who needs to speak with melania about his problem

Watch this space for a constitutional challenge.

Besides the chilling nature of this, it's ironic considering how many times members of Trump's administration have violated the Hatch Act.

If this is not Kosher then I can count on unions to sue....or use other means to kill this.....this is not something that I need to worry about.

Regarding the bold:

And there's more. Perhaps they needed the reminder.

Not just that, they have a responsibility to execute policy determined by the elected leader of the US, whether they agree with him or not. Suddenly deciding you can determine which policies they can follow and which they can deliberately mess up is certainly a violation of their oaths and their merit conduct policies.

They definitely needed the reminder.

This is the crap that petty dictators do in bad countries.

Too bad...we are Americans, and we don't take kindly to dictator wannabees trying to censor fellow Americans.

Resist this assclown.

Trump would like to trim the work force more in line with the private sector. But unions resist any trimming of fat. Government workers are already lazy, so you don't need to add sabotage to make an incompetent and dysfunctional system even worse. The memo is a shot across the bow of the unions. If workers are in violation of these rules, this give Trump a way to trim the dysfunctional fat.

Democrats murdered their opponents. Trump is just forcing bad apples to shut up and do their jobs without partisanship while at work.

but Obama wore a tan suit.

Guess several Presidents have been "petty dictators" then.

Wait....you didn't know? Government employees have been banned from talking politics and doing political work while on the job for decades now. Since 1939 if you want to be exact. It's called the Hatch Act. Look it up.

I think you are on to something...kind of.

I don't think this has anything to do with trimming the work force. I think it has everything to do with getting rid of the people who deliberately work against the administration while being employed by the administration. I think this memo is designed to combat the ability of the union to prevent people from getting fired for this kind of activity.

You can look at this as another effort to drain the executive branch part of the swamp.

I call Horse Manure.

The story originates on Raw Story, the National Enquirer of Internet, where 3 headed babies, 200 yr old men who look 18 prey on your daughters. Gives Fake News comparative validity.

What a stupid post.

The WP isn't much better. Usually more concerned with gossip.

that the media organ makes a sound argument with which you disagree does not cause the validity of that media member to be other than valid

also noticed you were unable to debate the very arguments those media cites offered

My agreement is irrelevantlll

So when trump shuts down government - because they won't pay for his frigging wall - then the 2 million UNEMPLOYED federal workers can exercise their 1st amendment rights and SPEAK LOUDLY ABOUT TRUMP'S FRIGGING IMPEACHMENT!!!

or is he a bully who needs to speak with melania about his problem

Wouldn't it be better if he spoke to someone that can speak English? Malaria needs to have a translator with her to help people understand what BS she is spewing.
