First, the elementary school shooter was a father of one of the students...

Then, he was the son of a guy teaching there...Then it was his mother...

It was reported parents were found dead in the shooters' home...Then it was just the mother...

Reports went out about the shooter's facebook page...Then it was found it wasn't him...

Then we find it was NOT "Ryan Lanza" as reported, but his brother Adam...

We learned the shooter was 20 years old...Then 24...Then 26...

This is what happens when the media is so damn quick to "be the first" that they simply step over the confirmations and just say whatever the first thing in their ear is..:(

ive also heard reports on the local radio he was a tea party member, than he was an ows member, now hes neither, not only is the media quick to throw facts when they arent facts just hearsay, they are quick to to attempt to put their oppositions face on the person/persons who committed such a tragedy without any amount of proof.

The networks rush the information out because it's all about ratings. I remember when both CNN & Fox News got the story wrong about SCOTUS decision on Obamacare. Corporate bias.

That's why I didn't watch this whole thing on TV...I watched the live online broadcast from the local station. If they couldn't confirm something, they were careful to make that clear. If it turned out that some unsubstantiated information turned out to be wrong, they were quick to make a correction. They were professional, but empathetic. One anchor even remarked...long before Obama made the point...that when he picked up his little girl from HER school, all he did was hug her.

But the thing that impressed me most was that they declined to show the anguish, grief and sorrow of the family members when they found out that their children would not be coming back to them. The station didn't think that was the right thing to do.

That station should win an award for their coverage. A class act.

Wow, it is just like Internet discussion boards!

It is pretty amazing that that something as emasculated as the media can somehow manage to trip over their own dicks so readily and often...

This and bias is the real problem. This is what news for profit breds.

True, there was a lot of incorrect information coming from much of the reporting.

However, since the event was so catastrophic, most of the public doesn’t care. We are so used to it, we expect it to change report by report.

In a general way, they were getting to a report of a mass murder, and that was unfortunately correct.
