Turkish anger as German MPs prepare to vote on Armenian genocide

Though, I am convinced that the offense was genocide and that the Turks deny the genocide is bizarre, I do feel uncomfortable of the legislative of a third party declaring it as such. After all, there are a lot of Crimes against Humanity that should be officialized, if one wants to start down that path. A declaration of such crime committed by France in Algeria would be an obvious place to start, as it is more recent and a member of the same club. That the Bundestag mentioned its own participation as I understand it did, does lend the vote some credibility. But, what the consequences of such a proclamation are is not quite as clear.

You could add Darfur to the list.

The satirist was right: Erdogan is a pathetic goat ****er.

That's really all that needs to be said. :p

There are new legalistic angles surfacing on the issue of publicly calling him that.

The likelihood of getting sued over it is nothing new but word has it that now goats are preparing a slander suit.

Don't really feel the Muhammad Ali RIP thread would be all that appropriate for this but also don't want to start a whole new thread on it:

Not really OT as far as the Turkish-German relationship is currently going but perhaps worth pointing out that Erdogan seems to put his foot in (his mouth) everywhere.
Yet many in Turkey had found Erdogan’s rush to honor Ali distasteful, especially at a time of heightened conflict with Turkey’s Kurdish minority. On social media, some argued that Ali would have had no support for many of Erdogan’s increasingly controversial policies.
Nevertheless, there seems to be much speculation on what actually transpired and little fact supplied (to give factuality its due).

Erdogan wanting to put a piece of the cloth that covers the Kaaba on coffin (or grave) plus wanting to have a Muslim cleric of his choice reciting verses from the Qur'an can hardly have been the chief source of whatever controversy.

Uh......you guys did, actually. Burn people alive.

and drowned them, and "innoculated them" with live typhus, and according to some doctors even used poison gas in crowded buildings.

and that to the list of things they never did. Wink

France killed millions of Algerians but who cares....

I'm trying to understand this position, it sounds to me like your position is basically

"We didn't do it, and besides everyone else did it anyway"

which is it? The Turks are completely innocent and the victim of invented events meant to slander their people, or that no one should care because everyone's guilty?

And, of course, they'll never apologize. Which is very depressing.

Both.

The second part thrown in for good measure in case the 1st part doesn't work all of 100 pct. Or, by preference, the other way round.
