The Northern Alliance fought a defensive war against the Taliban government.[1] They received support from Iran, Russia, Turkey, India, Tajikistan and others,[4] while the Taliban were backed, weaponized & trained by Pakistan Army.Given that you tried to claim the Northern Alliance were the “pro Soviet Afghan remnants”—-a blatantly, almost laughably false claim— you don’t have room to talk.

Who are the allies of the US here?
Beyond wrong! Quite the opposite! The "Norther Alliance" were the "remnants" of the pro-Soviet Afghans! It's precisely this group that the US fought against using Islamist radicals that it trained, armed and financed with the help of Pakistan!
Northern Alliance
Notice the timeline. That was during the Afghan Civil War.
This fool does not even realize that started in 1989, after the Soviets pulled out. In fact, he is talking about the Second Afghan Civil War, because that started in 1992, and the Taliban did not even exist until 1994. And notice, he clearly states "Russia". Not the Soviet Union, but Russia.
He does not even realize that he is talking about a point of time over 5 years after the Soviets left, and their country ceased to exist. By the time the Taliban was formed, there was no more "Soviet Union".
This guy is as out of touch with reality as Litwin is, seeing Russia and the Soviets as interchangeable and the same thing. And apparently it does not matter what point in time something happens, it is all exactly the same in his mind.
