RUSSIA is a big guy in geo-politics.

You simply can't accept that fact.

TV.ru myth

the GDP of Muscovy is of the same order of magnitude as the combined GDP of Belgium and the Netherlands. In 2017 Muscovy GDP was 1 469 billion dollars (according to the International Monetary Fund). Belgium had a GDP of 491 billion dollars and the Netherlands 824 billion dollars; together $ 1 315 billion. In GDP terms, Muscovy is only 12 per cent larger than Belgium plus the Netherlands.

This perplexing statistic prompted me to ask why politically Russia weighs so much more in the world than Belgium and the Netherlands, while economically that country is hardly stronger than these two countries bordering the North Sea.

Before answering that question, first some other figures that illustrate how much of an economic lightweight Muscovy is. US GDP reached US$ 19 362 billion in 2017. With GDP as a yardstick, the US is 13 times bigger than Muscovy . In the same way, other countries can be compared with Muscovy. China is economically 8 times larger than Muscovy ; Germany 2.5 times more, France 1.8 more, and the European Union as a whole is 12 times bigger than Muscovy.

You simply can't accept the fact that Muscovy is Nigeria with snow

I thought that Russia learned its lesson when the Taliban chased the Soviets out last century.

That was not the Taliban. No more than it was al-Qaeda.

That was the Mujahedeen. Primarily local Afghans who fought against the Soviets. The Taliban formed many years later, a large number actually foreign "Arab Mercenaries" who wanted to create an "Islamic State". Very different from the government formed after the Soviets left which was a secular nation.

In fact, the single most powerful faction was the Northern Alliance, led by the former Minister of Defense, Ahmad Shah Massoud. Who was one of the leading commanders of Mujahedeen forces during the Soviet-Afghan War, and was fighting to keep the Taliban in check.

And shockwaves started going through the US Intelligence community when he was assassinated by al-Qaeda on 9 September 2001.

There were multiple groups fighting in the Afghan Civil War. The Taliban were simply the most radical and fundamentalist of the bunch. But they did not kick out the Soviets.

More stupid talk.

Russia is still a geopolitical player.

Russia still holds veto power in the UN

Russia supplies much of the energy goods used by EU.

Russia is still a viable military power.

Russia still has nukes.

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH.

Oh, your potty poop fetish is showing.

“We are worried 🤣 😂(y) about this,” Moscow Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Friday, per state media.

Terror threats....

Just as the US the UK and EU are concerned about terror threats.

Afghanistan is nowhere near RUSSIA.
you know nothing about Geography

"

Moscow fortifies Central Asia military clout before US Afghan exit

Moscow is primarily interested in strengthening its military and political clout in Central Asia, the soft underbelly of the

Moscow Federation," said Andrei Serenko, head of the Center for the Study of Modern Afghanistan. "The situation in Afghanistan is viewed first and foremost as a threat capable of jeopardizing Moscow 's influence in the region."

Very informative.

Maybe there's some hope that the Taliban will NOT take over.

I assume the present government will be kicked out, but maybe one of those non-Taliban groups you mentioned will take over.

In other words, maybe the least of the bad will take over.

Poor Litwin can't Geography.

Afghanistan is bordered by Pakistan to the east and south; Iran to the west; Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan to the north; and China to the northeast

Where do you see Russia on that list?

Omsk isn’t a country and the Taliban doesn’t have any offensive power outside of Afghanistan.
