If the professional hysterics on cable news – Don Lemon and the rest - have seemed a little more florid and jumpy than usual recently, there’s a reason: They’ve finally uncovered the president’s crimes.No, not Russia collusion. Despite years of searching, there’s still no evidence that happened. This horrifying new misdeed they have uncovered has nothing to do with Vladimir Putin. Instead, it’s about sex. Here’s how The New York Times describes it: “President Trump directed illegal payments to ward off a potential sex scandal that threatened his chances of winning the White House.”


Barack Obama, for example, ran for president in 2008. His presidential campaign was found guilty of campaign violations involving nearly $2 million. That’s almost ten times the payments Trump made. No one was prosecuted for that. The Obama campaign got off with a $375,000 fine to the FEC.

In 1998, Chuck Schumer was caught taking $1 million in “excessive contributions.” He also failed to properly disclose $6.4 million in expenses. The consequences of all this: Schumer paid a $138,000 fine. Chuck Schumer is still in the Senate today.

Did Obama and Schumer repeatedly lie about it?

Did they structure payments to be hidden?

Did any of their staff plead guilty to campaign finance fraud?

You really should put more effort in your posts than just spitting up Tucker Carlson talking points.

Was a special prosecutor appointed to investigate their campaign's behavior? That alone makes a huge difference in what gets discovered. Ask them no questions and they will tell you no lies.

But I thought you guys were going to be different. You were going to drain the DC swamp. It was going to be all about law and order, about moral virtue. It was going to be a different game than just more of the "lyin' this and that" or "crooked so and so". You were going to show us how to Make America Great Again. Don't you think this is all just the same swamp we had before (if not far worse)? Why are you not only perfectly OK with it, but so fiercely and passionately defending it now?

I don't remember the Russians working hard to get the Clinton's elected. But they sure did for Trump, and hasn't it paid off handsomely? Imagine, a US POTUS standing united with Putin against the entire American Intelligence community in Helsinki, a US POTUS doing what he can to ruin existing relationships with allies. A US POTUS working hard to have sanctions dropped against Russia. Connections left and right between Trump campaign officials and various agents for the Russians. Numerous indictments and guilty pleas.

Are you saying we saw the same sort of things with the Clintons, and it wasn't investigated? If so, please provide some evidence.

Back to the subject of the thread: Is it OK to pay off porn stars and playboy bunnies to keep quiet about sexual trysts in order to keep from losing votes during an election? Is it OK when your lawyer makes those payments, you pay him back, then claim that there were no trysts?

Apparently, Trump's supporters are OK with it, as they keep defending it, but then, Trump could go out on Fifth Avenue and shoot someone without losing any votes. The man can do anything.

Which brings up the next question: Had Trump not paid off his paramours and simply said, "Sure, I cheated on all three of my wives. So what?" would he have lost any votes?

Your argument is weak - there was no Russian involvement with the NDA payments and absolutely no mention of Clinton (Bill or Hillary) was made.

As I understand it, the campaign finance violation fines paid by the Obama administration were due to late reports and errors in dates found during an audit. The reason for the size of the fine is due to the astronomical cost of the Obama campaign. Clerical errors are to be expected, and fines tend to be proportional to the money spent on the campaign.

The campaign finance violations Trump is rumored to be guilty of include creating a shell company and instructing his lawyer to launder money used to pay off a porn star so that she wouldn't reveal an affair in the run up to his 2016 election.

Does anyone really believe these are comparable?
