Tucker Carlson Appears to Trash Fox News Colleague Who Debunked Ukraine Bioweapons Conspiracy Theory
The Nunn-Lugar Act (Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) Program) was passed in 1986 and provides US funding and expertise for states in the former Soviet Union (including Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan) to decommission nuclear, biological, and chemical weapon stockpiles, as agreed by the Soviet Union under disarmament treaties such as SALT I. The "bio-weapons" lab in Ukraine that's being pushed by Kremlin propaganda is an old Soviet lab that under Nunn-Lugar has long been devoted to discovering, anylizing, and combatting pathogens and viruii such as the Covid-19 virus. Almost every country in the world (and certainly in Europe) has such a lab.
Tucker Carlson is a shill for Kremlin propaganda, and is upset that FOX's own national security correspondent (Jennifer Griffin) debunked his conspiracy garbage.

On Thursday's episode of his Fox News show, Tucker Carlson let forth quite a rant bashing unnamed reporters who have debunked a conspiracy theory he keeps plugging. And on his list of bash-ees? Apparently one of his own coworkers, FOX national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin. Tucker Carlson has for the last couple of weeks has frequently talked about one of the lies Vladimir Putin has advanced to justify his invasion of Ukraine: accusing the United States of funding bioweapons research in Ukraine. Tucker Carlson seems to believe this is true or at least possible, but it actually isn't true. In fact, what actually happened is that the U.S. has been funding efforts to safely convert old Soviet-era bioweapons labs for use in more benign purposes.
Of course, this nonsense keeps being debunked by multiple, otherwise ideologically different reporters, even on Fox News. But on Thursday's episode of "Tucker Carlson Tonight," Tucker Carlson doubled down and all but directly accused those reporters of openly lying on behalf of the U.S. government. And in one telling aside, he appears unmistakably to include Griffin in those accusations and insinuations. "You know that the Pentagon talking points you saw reported as fact on television today — and last night — were an utter lie. Did the reporters who repeated those talking points verbatim know that they were a lie? Maybe they did. On the other hand, how would they know? They didn't bother to do any reporting what. So. Ever," Tucker Carlson said with an angry scowl.
