Hello,
I am a centrist trying to find a place for debate that will not only challenge me but will allow for intelligent, sound debate. I've been a part of various forums for debate which have either fallen apart or degenerated into a state of over-all intellectual decay. Hopefully this place will be different. I just randomly typed in "political debate forum" and got this place. Read a few threads that caught my eye and here I am.
As for my views, well, I like to think I have a happy medium between the liberal and the conservative. With social matters, I almost always find myself leaning towards the liberal side. With economic and war-related matters, I almost always find myself leaning towards the conservative side. I am a Deist; I believe in the big bang theory, as well as a creator and think the big bang wasnt random but rather something that did happen as a result of the whim of a higher power. And that's as far into spiritual belief as I allow myself to delve; I prefer logic to morals. Morals are far too subjective and therefore are seemingly useless; or at the very least what most people consider to be morals/morality. I'd rather argue with my brain than my 'gut'. I also dont believe in the concept of political correctness as I feel it's contradictory to human nature. This however does not suggest nor imply that I support other things which arent foreign to human nature, such as killing or rape--just that when intangible things, such as free speech, come into play, I dont believe we should squander what we really have to say.
I definately have a 'question everything' mentality. What you see in the name 'Deviant' is what you get; I've had this moniker for 2 years now and as cliche as it innitially may sound, it accurately describes me. All too often I think people encounter rebellious people who have no idea what they're talking about, and ruin the general view of the rest of them. Kind of like having a basket of apples and eating a rotten one--then assuming the rest are all spoiled as well. This is not the case; although I can definately understand how someone could ignorantly assume that most rebellious youth have little base to what they have to say. I suppose it just comes down to getting to know the person; and if they ignorantly pass them by, then they're no one to talk about having base for their statements and views.
Anyway, that's about as much as I can think to type, having not slept in 24 hours and being in dire need of it. I look forward to meeting some interesting people; and as long as I dont get cliche forum hazing by older members, I will try to be decent
