I just watched this film. It was compelling, well-acted, and timely. It was that last aspect that almost had me post this elsewhere.

I admit, I am suspicious of Angel productions. They tend to be a little ham-handed, and overtly religious (as the name implies, although, ironically not the basis for the name). I approached this one with some trepidation.

I was, instead, transported to Nazi Germany for a lesson both in depravity and morality that is applicable today. What was particularly instructive was that it was not ham-handed, over the top, or preachy. The main antagonist isn't a monster, although he does monstrous things. And the protagonist is moral, but not particularly wise - although he is, after all, a 16-year-old.

I'll be interested in getting other people's perspective, without giving too much away that isn't apparent from the trailer. "As World War II rages, a teenage boy in Germany is forced to confront a terrible truth—loyalty to his country now means loyalty to a lie. When his trusted bishop urges obedience to the Nazi regime, he begins to question everything. And after his Jewish friend is taken away, he secretly listens to banned radio broadcasts and launches a resistance, exposing the truth. But in a nation ruled by fear, defiance comes at a cost—and as the regime closes in, he must decide what it truly means to be a good German."
