I read posts on how the Dems have flip flopped on the issue of naming a new member of the court right before an election, but they are not the ones who in 2016 set the "new" precedent for not allowing such a nominee to be made. It was the GOP. I hope to God you understand what a precedent is, but apparently you do not. It is an earlier event or action that is regarded as a guide to followed in subsequent similar actions. So when the "GOP" said they were setting a new precedent that should be followed they ended all previous precedents. So no, the Dems have not flip flopped, but are asking the GOP to follow the new precedent that the GOP itself devised for waiting until after the election to name a new nominee for the court. Admit it, that was just a political lie told by Moscow Mitch, one of many he has said to us, and live with it. As to Graham, well he is a known flip flopper and true blue GOP liar.

In the Prisoner's Dilemma, it is generally considered that the correct solution is to reflect your opponent's last moves back at them.

If that sounds like nonsense, it's the logic that kept the Cold War from going hot. They didn't attack, we didn't attack, they reduced stockpiles, we reduce stockpiles, etc.

It this version, we have to ask why the GOP chose to block Obama's nomination for several months back in 2016, because now there is simply no way to rationalize a rapid nomination.

It's kind of a broken version, because the consequences of making the wrong choice are defused by time. Probably a lot of GOP folks today trying to understand how something from so long ago could possibly be relevant today.
