Donald Trump supporters say the firestorm over a tweet that featured the Star of David next to raining money and Hillary Clinton was driven by the media’s political correctness.

But the image — which critics called anti-Semitic — appears to have been taken from an online neo-Nazi message board.
According to Mic.com, the graphic tweeted by the presumptive Republican nominee on Saturday was previously featured on a message board for the alt-right, “a digital movement of neo-Nazis, anti-Semites, and white supremacists.”
The website reported that the image appeared on the message board — called “/pol/” — as early as June 22, over a week before it was published on Trump’s Twitter feed.

You know, on this forum when a poster gets caught posting sources from neo-nazi blogs or forums, we usually give them the benefit of the doubt. We ask them where they got it from. How they got it. Hell, we even point out to them why these sources can't be trusted. That said, you'd think somebody like Trump, who has zero political experience, but is practically known for putting his name on everything from fraudulent diploma mills to water bottle companies would be a little more careful about his image. Then again, this is nothing new. Whomever manages Trump's account -- seems to like pulling images from neo-nazi propaganda accounts.

I wonder how his congregation will react to this? Simple oversight? Hacked account? Nothing to see here?

So many ways to avoid what is plainly obvious.

Was a watermark identifying the originator removed before it was posted on Trump's account? Anyone have a citation for that?

Political correctness is out of control!!!!!

I did track the image to its origin site. Let's just say that after a long, hard day of Jew-bashing, Hitler would occasionally take a break to have a lager and play catch with his dog. The denizens of /pol/ take no such breaks.

"congregation" ... THE perfect word choice

however the "congregation" may feel, tRump could not have helped hillary's fund raising from pro-Israeli sources any more than had he tried to do so

Who cares?

Most people have a problem with political leaders, especially presidential nominees, using propaganda from neo nazi websites. Not caring, in this case, is the same as approving.

/pol/ is not a neo Nazi website. It is basically where a bunch of trolls post memes and things to get reactions. Most of it is so extremely over the top that it is obviously not what people believe. Then again, this is like the news calling 4chan an amazing hacker. 4chan is actually the website that houses /pol/. It is simply a section of the site that is much more trollish in nature than some other parts. Although, trollish behavior is pretty standard.

No fan of Trump here but, I do not believe it was an intentional anri semetic slight. I blame the staff that he surronds himself with, not to have the basic political intution to realize how it could be interpeted. Amateurs !!

It came from 8chan's /pol/. 8 chan is where a bunch pissed at 4chan for having too many rules ended up. Most notorious for kiddy porn. I strongly suggest not going there.

Thanks guys, my anti-virus software went nuts when I went to the OP's link to the story they were repeating (not actually doing any research, just a big copy/pasta of the original author's site - MIC.com). Never even made it to the \pol\ site that you guys keep talking about.

Yes, the cite is the second article referenced in the OP.

FWIW, I doubt if Trump or his twitter person recognized the problem with that image. The problem is if you're running for POTUS, it's sort of expected you have a competent staff who might think about that kind of thing before tweeting. He's acting like a right wing talk show host and not a serious person running for POTUS.

It is not 4chan, it is 8chan. Imagine what it takes to get banned from 4chan. Those people go to 8chan.

I doubt that Trump himself knew about it or would have condoned it, but the next words out of his mouth need to be "You're fired".

If a watermark identifying the originator was removed, then the person posting it on Trump's account cannot claim to have been unaware of the source and thus even more obvious implications.

But you're right. It would take an idiot to not get "political corruption", "money" and "Star of David" as anti-Semitic.

I know what 8chan is. I figured it was from 4chan based on past experiences with news organizations over exaggerating things. Either way, neither of them are neo nazi forums.

Yep. His staff are idiots. And if Trump wins, they'll be running the country.

If you leave 4chan because it's too strict, you just might be a deranged sociopath.

8chan itself is not neo-nazi(close tho). It does however have a heavy preponderance of neo-nazi posters.

You are making way to many assumptions.

Can you show he didn't just pull it off a image search or by looking at anti-Hillary tweets? If not, stop with the assumptions.

The image is obviously edited.
It appears as though it and part of the blue area was covered by a "Fox News Poll" image with a black boarder on top which showed Hillary's trusted vs corrupt percentages.

Here is the original.
First tweeted 7 days before being posted at 8chan.

As found at 8chan 7 days later.

Here it is as tweeted the first time at Trump's account and saved by another tweeter.

The re-edited image Trump tweeted.

There was some politics involved(long story short: gamersgaters where going so far in attacking women game devs and commentators that even 4chan's admins thought it was too far), but yeah, 8chan is not a nice place.

And Trump just happens to pull his tweets from a particularly trolling site that posts an overwhelming number of pro-Nazi posts. When I "slum it" I read Cracked. When Trump slums it he goes to Neo-Nazi websites.
