[h=1]Remarks by President Trump, Vice President Pence, and Members of the Coronavirus Task Force in Press Conference[/h]
HEALTHCARE

Issued on: February 27, 2020

...Q Mr. President, you talked about the flu and then in comparison to the coronavirus. The flu has a fatality ratio of about 0.1 percent.THE PRESIDENT: Correct.
Q This has a fatality ratio somewhere between 2 and 3 percent. Given that and the fact —
THE PRESIDENT: Well, we think. We think. We don’t know exactly what it is.
Q Based on the numbers so far —
THE PRESIDENT: And the flu is higher than that. The flu is much higher than that.
Q There’s more people who get the flu, but this is spreading — or is going to spread, maybe, within communities. That’s the expectation.
THE PRESIDENT: It may. It may.
Q Does that — does that worry you? Because —
THE PRESIDENT: No.
Q — that seems to be what worries the American people.
THE PRESIDENT: No, because we’re ready for it. It is what it is. We’re ready for it. We’re really prepared. We have — as I said, we’ve had — we have the greatest people in the world. We’re very ready for it. We hope it doesn’t spread. There’s a chance that it won’t spread too, and there’s a chance that it will, and then it’s a question of at what level.
So far, we’ve done a great job. When you have 15 people, with this whole world coming into the United States, and the 15 people are either better or close to being better, that’s pretty good.
All right, we’ll do — we’ll do one more. Go ahead....

But 20 days earlier, on February 7....

[h=1]Trump says he knew coronavirus was ‘deadly,’ Woodward book says[/h]In Bob Woodward's new book "Rage," President Trump said he deliberately played down the threat of pandemic and said he feels no responsibility to better understand the anger and pain of Black Americans.

....
“This will be the biggest national security threat you face in your presidency,” national security adviser Robert O’Brien told Trump, according to a new book by Washington Post associate editor Bob Woodward. “This is going to be the roughest thing you face.”

Matthew Pottinger, the deputy national security adviser, agreed. He told the president that after reaching contacts in China, it was evident that the world faced a health emergency on par with the flu pandemic of 1918, which killed an estimated 50 million people worldwide.

Ten days later, Trump called Woodward and revealed that he thought the situation was far more dire than what he had been saying publicly.

“You just breathe the air and that’s how it’s passed,” Trump said in a Feb. 7 call. “And so that’s a very tricky one. That’s a very delicate one. It’s also more deadly than even your strenuous flu.”

“This is deadly stuff,” the president repeated for emphasis.0:00/0:31

Listen: In a Feb. 7 interview, when asked what President Xi told him about the virus, Trump says, “This is deadly stuff.”

At that time, Trump was telling the nation that the virus was no worse than a seasonal flu, predicting it would soon disappear, and insisting that the U.S. government had it totally under control. It would be several weeks before he would publicly acknowledge that the virus was no ordinary flu and that it could be transmitted through the air.

he just admitted that he knew the virus was more deadly than the flu...and I am betting his supporters on here will just deny it all.

Testifying before Congress on Friday, Dr. Anthony Fauci repeatedly credited President Trump for coronavirus policy decisions that saved lives.

Those measures included Trump’s decisions to ban flights from China, the UK and the rest of Europe, and the administration’s “Fifteen Days to Slow the Spread” quarantine policy, initially ordered in mid-March and then extended to a total 30 days.

Appearing before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Response, Fauci said he participated in, and approved of, all of those policies — and that he believes they all resulted in the saving of lives.

“When it comes to preventing coronavirus, public health officials have been clear: Healthy people do not need to wear a face mask to protect themselves from COVID-19,” CBS News reported March 8, concerning the Fauci interview.

“There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask,” the infectious disease expert told “60 Minutes.”

By April 3, the CDC issued guidance advising cloth face mask coverings for the general population.

Maybe you can look at a calendar, read a little bit, and simply deduce that life is always fluid, and things have changed since February.
Adaptation over time while assimilating new information is called learning, adapting - evolution.
You should try it.

Affirmative.

Cardinal's wife: "Honey, you're heading the wrong way. The hotel is down the other road."
Cardinal: "Quiet, woman! I turned onto this road, and down this road I'm going!"

Fauci says Trump's coronavirus policy decisions helped save lives

It was a politically expedient thing to do. It was a leading question asked by a Republican congressman. Fauci was able to answer the question factually to give this congressman the brownie points he sought, without necessarily having to answer him completely, to be fully truthful. The fully truthful answer would be a total assessment of Trump's actions and in-actions. A fully truthful answer would likely have cost Fauci his job and given the Congressman more than he asked for.

Most of the world (including Fauci) believe that on balance, Trump cost lives. Some things Trump did did save lives. No one, however asked Fauci if Trump's decisions cost lives. Nor did anyone ask Fauci if on balance Trump's decisions (or in-decisions) netted to a saving or costing of lives. You do realize that any leader makes multiple decisions (or non-decisions) with varying consequences. Its possible to make a few good decision amongst many, many bad ones, as Trump did here. So, don't overplay your cite for I can give you 50 cites from experts that will tell you many to most of the deaths in the US are do to Trump's in-decisions, late decisions and even undermining his own administration.
