Trump's epic stupidity of wanting to leave Nato

There has been talk of creating a European Army.
How would the creation of such an army impact NATO? Shouldn't the USA think about that?

And why do you think there is such talk?

Trump Discussed Pulling U.S. From NATO, Aides Say Amid New Concerns Over Russia

My view is this:

The Military will not follow that order. Those who do are traitors. NO rational president, officer of the court, senator, congressperson, and anyone in the military and security & State dept. would ever believe this to be acceptable.

Trump is digging his own grave if he pursues this line of thinking. It will lead to his impeachment ( okay, for you "yeah, and hillary was to be prez" shouters, please abstain, it's getting old )

The sad and tragic truth is Trump is so stupid he doesn't realize his complete ignorance on the subject, and apparently he doesn't retain the advice and information on the subject when it is given to him, given that he returns to the pining for abandoning NATO every few months or so, and as such, this demonstrates incontrovertibly that he is not fit to be president.

Big government democrat dependents see Trump's departure from NATO as something like a mama hyena abandoning her pups, or, rather, leftist hyena pups being stripped from their UN mother beast's breasts.

I've posted this in other places, but Trump's negativity towards NATO popped up very shortly after Manafort showed up. I'll let you make the necessary connections.

After that, I'm sure Bannon encouraged negativity towards NATO as well. And Manafort was still in contact with Trump for months even after he left.

That said, unless there is someone (still?) pulling the strings, Trump's view of NATO is a recent thing and perhaps not as entrenched as his ****ty trade policies. I would imagine that Bolton is pro-NATO, and why you really have not heard Trump go after NATO as much lately. That, or he has a bunch of other **** to deal with.

Despite your not allowing the comments to roll off your back like water off a duck, you sure often take the side of, ie, post waddle and quack like a left leaning duck... shows all what your posts are ultimately quacked up to be.

You have made no sensible arguments countering the poster EMN ...AND how intrinsically inane is it to say that having a border with Russia never mattered? Ask the Chinese, ask the bordering, buffering, suffering Eastern European satellite nations during and after WW2...ask the Fins. Ask almost any peoples that have had a border with Russian in their history. Speaking from at least a minimum base of knowledge helps support your arguments... if nobody ever told you so previously.

Yea as if the cold war needed us to have a border with Russia...

ANd just stop the stupid attacks accusing me of being left or ****ing anything. You are just exhibiting hyper partisan hackery.

Of course Donald wants to pull out of NATO. He works for Poots.

What’s wrong with it at all? All of our NATO allies hate America, Emmanuel Macron who’s whole country only exists because of American intervention had the balls to knock Trump at a recent diplomatic meeting. Plus our involvement in world affairs only seems to hurt other people. Let the Europeans save themselves from whatever hordes ail them. I say let’s roll back foreign policy. Party like it’s 1899

All of our allies hate America? They might not like Trump but I don't think that's a true statement

ANYONE who thinks leaving NATO is even remotely a "sane idea' left rational town long ago and is unworthy of discussion with. It is UNREAL that is come to this and as Americans this is UNACCEPTABLE. We HAVE to be better, or just disband, and capitulate now, the choice is THAT clear. Fools!

No, because you haven't said anything. You still haven't made an argument against leaving. The only think you're basically saying is, "it exist, therefore, we should be part of it." You haven't made a convincing argument for staying. Why should the United States remain in NATO.

This is really your only argument, but it's not a very good one. Every country has their own interest at heart. Why would you expect anyone to have your interests? Again, not a convincing argument for remaining in NATO.

That's normative. I'm only interested in the facts, that what you think the facts are.

Nah, I mentioned my arguments, but you want to insist that I have no arguments so you are choosing to ignore what I said. Have a nice life. No interest in discussing a point with someone who employs this kind of dishonesty.

I can't ignore what you said when you haven't said anything substaintial. It's your own fault your ideas are incoherent.

My view is this:

The Military will not follow that order.

Do you have any inkling of an idea of how colossally stupid of an idea it is to support the military disobeying the elected civilian leadership appointed over them? You want a military coup? That's how you get a military coup.

Those who do are traitors. NO rational president, officer of the court, senator, congressperson, and anyone in the military and security & State dept. would ever believe this to be acceptable.

Interesting thought. I have a question, though. When did you go down range to Iraq or Afghanistan? I'm just wondering if I bumped into you during my time there.

This is the only thing you're right on, though not for the reasons you think. America loves is military industrial complex and endless wars. We have two war parties now, and no sizeable anti-war groups anymore.

Many either don't believe it's an issue or tend to dismiss it as a "nothing burger" as the left is talking about it. Adding to the worry...........

Some, many of OUR allied states share a BORDER with Russia and its former satellite states [ don't remember the Iron Curtain, eh?] and its those ideological threats backed by a powerful military along those very borders, and elsewhere, that created THAT VERY Cold War.

One can ignore their own political leanings all they want, but those that debate with one are allowed to make our own decisions in light of those blatant positionings. Someone can say, and think to themselves, anything they please... that does not obviate the rest of us on acting upon the reality.

Yano?

Either way dude we were still in a cold war with Russia despite distance might have to do with the nukes bro.

No duh.

So what is you point? Our NATO alliance is a result of those threatened by Soviet influence/intimidation on their borders and/or close proximity to the Soviet Bloc nations. Do you have a real argument to present?

What about China's nukes?

Russia cannot start a ground war and win it, and they can't use nukes because they would never recover from the retaliatory strike. China on the other hand as gamed out that they can survive a nuclear war and come out of it faster than the USA. NATO countries should beef up their defenses against Russia, and leave us to concentrate on China. Russia is not going to any invading until they see another Obama at the helm. His lack of enforcement of his Syrian "red line", green lighted Putin to take Crimea.

Are you suggesting a return to the draft so US soldiers can die on the plains of the Ukraine so they won't have to?

Europe due to socialism is devolving into an impotent hollow shell, and now the EU experiment is unraveling and the elites are going to have to find a new way to make money.

Russia can only pin down our land forces while we are facing down a naval engagement with China.

Pretty much all Donald Trump cares about is money, women and his image.

Well, and paying back his Russian loans.

And we have to stay in NATO for what you suggest to happen. Its too easy to say "they need to beef up their defenses" and just walk away from the issues. We have much at stake in keeping Russia at bay. Not all our NATO allies have the same capabilities. We have to manage who does what in order to have those same allies carry more of the weight while recognizing that they are never going to get up to 4% of GDP, NOR SHOULD THEY and nor should they be asked to.

We have had two presidents if not three in a row that have had no earthly idea how to use NATO fully to the benefit of this country. Two that did not know how, "43" and Obama. One now in Trump that is so thunderously ignorant, self indulgent, corrupt and unscrupulous that it is both easy to see how he could have been flipped by Russian Intelligence, the best Human Intelligence Asset in the world or could just as easily be so self indulgent as to be willing to risk US National Security in pursuit of an eventual personal wealth aspiration.

I'd be careful who you are calling ignorant.

That is not why NATO formed but nice story though dude. https://www.nato.int/wearenato/why-was-nato-founded.html

Why was NATO founded?
The North Atlantic Alliance was founded in the aftermath of the Second World War. Its purpose was to secure peace in Europe, to promote cooperation among its members and to guard their freedom – all of this in the context of countering the threat posed at the time by the Soviet Union. The Alliance’s founding treaty was signed in Washington in 1949 by a dozen European and North American countries. It commits the Allies to democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law, as well as to peaceful resolution of disputes. Importantly, the treaty sets out the idea of collective defence, meaning that an attack against one Ally is considered as an attack against all Allies. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization – or NATO – ensures that the security of its European member countries is inseparably linked to that of its North American member countries. The Organization also provides a unique forum for dialogue and cooperation across the Atlantic.

I have a vague idea now of your challenges in the area of reading comprehension and historical [mis]understanding.

Did you even read/understand what you yourself have here indicated? Its hard to make sense when sense does not make sense, or seems to make absolutely no sense to my opposing poster.

Jesus, what we have to try to patiently survive, put up with here on this site.

Dude, quit trying to troll me with your stupid sub par tactics. Listen! I do not care what you have to say. In fact you can type until your fingers fall off, but given your troll behavior nothing that you can ever say will ever matter.

I'm not sure what you were reading but he explained it very clearly.

Perhaps you should examine what limitations are preventing you from understanding it?
