Democrats Push to Block Trump-Requested Cuts to Community Policing Programs

PROTESTS DRAW ATTENTION TO TRUMP-REQUESTED CUTS to community policing and mediation programs at the Justice Department. The administration’s 2021 budget, like all its previous budgets, recommended eliminating the Community Relations Services and Community Oriented Policing Services and placing their functions under other parts of the department to “improve efficiency.”

The police need more funding, not less. Tell Trump not to defund the police!

While I'd like to think they really believe those programs should not be cut - they very well may, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they benefit communities of...of....those people - it might just be a hilarious bit of outmaneuvering.

"community policing" Read before you respond, please.

You have no idea what "community policing" in that article refers to, do you? You see those two words and immediately think some community policing is being cut.

It's not.

Well, that is what it says.
Of course, the federal government is a very minor player in funding the police anyway.

No. The article doesn't say any community policing is being cut.

If you think it does, please give me a quote.

Aint that a bitch?

Trump and the GOP's refusal to send funds to states and local government will probably impact police.

No doubt. Meanwhile, Trump and his sycophants are saying that Biden wants to defund the police, despite what Biden himself has said on the subject.
