Trump Wanted to Order Justice Dept. to Prosecute Comey and Clinton

Maybe Comey and Hillary should get Saudi Arabian citizenship. Then Trump would believe they are innocent.

How about Russian or North Korean citizenship? Russia and North Korea are now America's best friends.

From your own article:

And yet according to the very first paragraphs of the article "President Trump told the White House counsel in the spring that he wanted to order the Justice Department to prosecute two of his political adversaries" and "The lawyer, Donald F. McGahn II, rebuffed the president, saying that he had no authority to order a prosecution."

So...we have a couple of choices to make here:

1: Those "two people familiar with the conversation" are lying their asses off.

2: Mr. McGahn is lying his ass off.

3: A NYTimes fake news hit piece which you fell for...after all, you even use the same talking point about Nixon.

Personally, I believe Mr. McGahn since he has far more to lose by lying than "two people familiar with...".

Nah. Laughable false dilemma. Those aren't the only three choices.

Summary of NYT article:

"Two people who have no names said that a lawyer for the president lied when that lawyer said Trump didn't tell him to do anything against Comey or Clinton." :lamo

A person not wanting to be named revealed that the story by the NYT was a deliberate lie by the author of the article.

You do realize that regardless, it's a violation of Trump's authority to politicize the DOJ, right?

It was exactly one of the main incidents cited in the articles of impeachment against Nixon.

Are all Presidential orders to investigate politicizing the DOJ ??

I'm not familiar with any Nixon ordered investigations to impede the Watergate investigations

You're right, its possible that Trump ordered it outside of Mr. McGahns knowledge. But then how would Mr. McGahan have "rebuffed" him "according to two people"?

By reportedly informing the President that as White House Counsel he does not have the power or authority to order the DOJ to investigate and or prosecute anyone. He can only relay the President's request. But he also warned him and even drew up a memo outlining the range of potential consequences he could face if he were to give the DOJ such an order. Including impeachment.

It don't look there's anything to spin,

“Mr. McGahn will not comment on his legal advice to the president,” said Mr. McGahn’s lawyer, William A. Burck. “Like any client, the president is entitled to confidentiality. Mr. McGahn would point out, though, that the president never, to his knowledge, ordered that anyone prosecute Hillary Clinton or James Comey.”

, except the anti-tards spinning a story about how it really happened and everyone else is lying. Oh, and a racist.

It seems that two different Trump analyses are in play here which could govern how you interpret the report and Trump's comments: One is Trump the dictator wannabe, the would-be torturer, the admirer of tyrants overseas, "the where's my Roy Cohn", the fire-er of Sessions guy. The other is the guy who fell asleep in civics class and honestly doesn't understand how government works -- who gives orders to people who can't carry them out, as someone posited above.

The refreshing thing about Trump as opposed to Nixon is that his corruption is so obvious and out there. Nixon would have fired Comey and shut up. Trump fires Comey and more or less admits he's obstructing justice.

Your denial of the blindingly obvious is just really sad at this point.

You didn't test very well in reading comprehension door you???

Actually, the president does have the authority to order an investigation.

The notion that the president has zero authority over the DOJ is assinine.

Trump can literally scream that Hillary and Comey should be locked up, and prosecuted, and his followers won't believe that's what he wanted if the NYT reports on it first.

Lol, nutty.

Sent from Trump Plaza's basement using Putin's MacBook.

Considering how spot-on the NYT reporting on this administration has been, and how much of a propagandist Trump is, I'll consider the NYT report more credible.

Trump has already stated publicly on Twitter he wants the DOJ to investigate Clinton and Comey, so it's not like this is new information anyways.
Based what is in the public domain they should be prosecuted.

The reason that we have lawyers is for them to help us comply with the law. Trump heeded the advice of council just as he did when he fired Comey. Somehow that Rosenstein gave this advice was not enough for his recusal.

Lock her up

"...according to two people familiar with the conversation."

Okay. Moving on...

I know of one more person that would be familiar with the conversation. Mueller. It is said that he and Mr McGahn had spent a lot of quality time together.

The man has no clue how government works. His only reference is a world where he has a whim and a minion carries it out.

On a whim, are you crazy, have you seen Judicial Watch has sued the government under FOIA and got a plethora of new evidence, don’t y’all want any criminals charged, even Trump if y’all ever find anything, hey Trump was polite and is letting Mueller finish his investigation then we can hunt all criminals!

We are talking about the White House Counsel. I know you're always late to class but do try to make an effort to keep up. OK? And a Presidential order, even if otherwise lawful, can amount to obstruction of justice if it corruptly influences, obstructs, or impedes or endeavors to influence, obstruct, or impede the due and proper administration of the law.

Whats Wrong with Prosecuting HRC and Comey.

If there was a concern of wrong doing shouldnt they BE Adjudicated? If AG Lynch Refused to prosecute its NOT her JOB, to say if she wants to or not she just does it and lets the FACTS and Evidence make the determination of guilty or NOT.

SO WHAT if Trump WANTED them Prosecuted... If the Evidence factual proved them innocent then whats the problem.???

Funny.. Having a Private Server for 2 years with 10+ documents marked as classified. A witness and a co defendant in the same room during an FBI interview?

Comey leaked FBI documentation to a private citizen....

These are FACTUAL accusation with factual documented events that IF prospected and displayed to a court/jury/judge there would be a FAIR determination of guilt.

What happend with Kavanaugh? What about the Russian Collusion.

NO Factual basis no underlying crime.... just unverified accusation..... THERE was a Private Server, MEMO's that belonged to the FBI Where given to a layer friend.... FACTUAL basis.....

Oh? Did Mueller tell you personally that he is familiar with the conversation? We know he hasn't told anyone else.

Looks to me like what we have here is a lack of faith in judges, which has been earned.

It depends on whether the target is political.

I'm not familiar with any Nixon ordered investigations to impede the Watergate investigations
He asked the CIA to integer with the FBI's investigation, which was regarded as one of the smoking guns.

Nixon was also heard on the tapes ordering the FBI and the IRS to investigate members of the DNC, which pretty much sealed his fate.

Lock her up
Three years later, and we're still hearing this.
