A quarter of Trump's term has gone by so far, but this is not specifically about Trump as a President, but about America - why it wasn't great and why it is/isn't now. Please be specific.

I have already seen the show several times, but sometimes watching a repeat can still be entertaining.

Yet his framework for immigration would give Dreamers a "path to citizenship." interesting "end."

I think they just make up their own wet dream and assume that must be what Trump is doing. The next list of his accomplishments will probably include "personally strangled Hillary Clinton and ordered all liberals to reeducation camps."

America is getting worse..... we cant do conversation with people who dont agree with us anymore, we cant work together any more, we tend to lack honesty and other morals, we tend to be stupid now, we tend to be lazy now, we rarely care about quality anymore it's all cheap cheap cheap cheap.....and we just dont care about how badly we suck.....so we get worse.

So America, wasn't great because of the economy? So if unemployment rises, for example, America won't be a great country anymore?
Laid out new principles for reforming immigration and announced plan to end "chain migration," which lets one legal immigrant to bring in dozens of family members.

So illegal immigrants make America an un-great country? How many does it take?

Once again, this isn't about Trump specifically. This is about America and what makes it great.

Schumer's shutdown reveals: Democrats will destroy America just to spite Trump

Quote = "Democrats are committed to stopping Trump and his "America first" agenda, whatever the cost to the American people. Like the apocryphal commander in the Vietnam War, they will destroy the village to save it."

Or as I long ago put it the Elite (currently I am using the term FAILED INTELLIGENTSIA! ) are fully committed to the cause of burning America down to burn Trump out.

That's why I was mocking that item. There's a lot of grasping at straws in that list, but that one is particularly funny given the situation. Trumpers?:2funny:

So you voted for Trump, but you actually think America is getting worse?

It seems odd to bemoan a lack of civility and then elect a person who directly and childishly insults his opponents or bemoan a lack of honesty and support a President that lies, overstates, exaggerates, and hyperbolizes at the drop of a hat.

America is getting worse, in fact the collapse of America has picked up speed, powered by the reaction to the people sending Trump to Washington much more than any deficiencies in Trump... of which he has many as we all know.

Well it looks like govt is no longer trying to kill our corporations, and make them state run enterprises that's a good thing isn't it ?

My yearly gains last year on my investments were about 15%. My gains so far this month are at about 10%.

Everything you listed was caused by Leftists.

Correction 1/8th of the Trump presidency has gone by so far. Over the last year by every objective measure America has improved a lot.

The only dark spot is the Left, miserable and crazed over watching their ideology being destroyed, is doing everything they can to dampen the mood.

To conservatives, America wasn't great when Obama was in office.

feel free to answer the question that the thread has been started around... is America great now, why or why not?

I said term, not presidency. Feel free to project a win for Trump in 2020. That's not what this thread is about.

So is that enough to make it great, and why/why not?

Destroying the ideology of the left, (i.e. that there exists some a-priori goal of human ethics that should make the work product of one class freely available to another class outside the bounds of free and fair trade) is indeed a noble goal.

This goal cannot be achieved without generating the same levels of hate that inspired a liberal actor in the balcony of Ford's Theater in 1865.

Then as now, actors and Democrats, were the very definition of leftists.

If by "great" you mean closer to utopia where some slave class tends to our needs in while ensconced in our "safe places," NO!

If by "great" you mean in a position to bend the arc of history to "our way" then the answer is a resounding YES!

What I find interesting is when a Republican is president, most republicans thinks the country is moving in the right direction, most democrats think it is moving in the wrong direction. Just the opposite is true when a democrat is president, democrats think the country is headed in the right direction, republicans the wrong direction. Politics, ideology, party identification seems to determine for them, the partisans which way this country is headed.
