Trump tweets he will not allow Stars and Stripes to be shut down

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump vowed Friday not to allow the Pentagon’s planned shutdown of Stars and Stripes, as senators this week implored Defense Secretary Mark Esper to continue funding the editorially independent news organization. “The United States of America will NOT be cutting funding to @starsandstripes magazine under my watch,” Trump tweeted Friday. “It will continue to be a wonderful source of information to our Great Military!”

Government funding for Stars & Stripes was zeroed out in the White House budget for 2021, which was the budget of Donald Trump and then Budget Director Mick Mulvaney.

It is only being restored now because:

1) Trump is in a world of hurt over his "losers and suckers" comments about the US military as revealed by The Atlantic on this past Thursday.

2) GOP Senators - especially those at risk on November 3 ... Gardner, McSally, Collins, Ernst, Cornyn, have been begging Trump to relent and restore S&S funding before the election.

The arsonist arrives at Stars&Stripes to throw water on the fire he set in the dark of night.

He rushed over from telling the Right to vote twice.

And after saying all members of the armed forces past, present, future, are saps and suckers. Trump may have to resign as commander in chief but only so he can appoint Putin in his stead. As the Rowers will point out Potus has that authority because there's no law against doing it.
