Someone explain one single reason to do this other than hatred.

If we ignore them they will go away, or just all kill themselves.

Cutting government spending, duh!

The service was provided for free, but will close as it will no longer be funded?
The funded 988 suicide hotline remains, but the free service will cease?
How much funding went to the free service?
Just goes to show, nothing in life is free.

There really isn't one.

End spending on something the federal government doesn't need to fund.

If the states want it, they can pay for it.

With MAGA, cruelty is the point.

I was just gonna say that no government should need to fund this crap, whether state, local, or federal.

Because you would just like them all to disappear, right? Suicide or back in the closet does not matter to you.

You omitted food and home and health programs. Helping citizens should be viewed as unnecessary trash right?

I abhor that that way of thought but even if we use the beancounter argument, I am not sure that it does. How expensive are botched suicide attempts on the taxpayer? Imagine what we end up funding after we get that first 911 call, and then eventually through the ambulance doors? There are short term physical health care expenses over the next month and then there are the long term ones. How many botched efforts does it take to justify the costs of that hotline?

Did your daddy force you to wear dresses until you were 18?

None of you read the link, did you?

I think some programs can be modified, not necessarily scrapped.

No, I just think it's a waste of money.

Suicide prevention is a waste of money?

Sometimes I think there's some hope for you guys, and then I see something like this. We're really going to need a purge, when this is all over.

Another day, another bit of disgusting, harmful bigotry from the far right. If the Republican party tries to squirm away from this era in coming decades, don't forget.

As usual, liberals miss the point that the regular hotline can do this. But I guess that gets in the way of hating everything Trump does because orange man bad, especially when it's a government contraction.
