Trump tells Republicans to go for 'much higher numbers' on stimulus bill

Sept. 16 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump on Wednesday encouraged Republicans to agree on a COVID-19 stimulus bill with "much higher numbers" as Congress remains deadlocked on a new deal.

In a tweet Wednesday morning, Trump seemed to call on Republicans to meet Democratic demands for a more expensive and sweeping coronavirus relief bill, including another round of stimulus payments, and funding for state and local governments.

"Go for the much higher numbers Republicans, it all comes back to the USA anyway (one way or another!)," Trump wrote.

Trump's comments came as the House returned to Capitol Hill on Monday with about a month to strike a deal before they are set to depart again in preparation for November's election.

COMMENT:-

The "Republicans" (whatever that means) and the "Democrats" (whatever that means) were staring at each other eye to eye.

Somebody blinked.

Who wants to bet that the final deal DOES include "total (or even substantial) immunity from prosecution for employers who do not provide a safe workplace for returning workers (who have been told that they will lose their jobs if they do not come back to work)"?

Those people can save time and effort by simply sending the amount that they were willing to bet to the folks who run DP in order to help keep the site in business.

Trump would sell his kid in order to win the white house

Ummmmmmmmmmm, I don't think you understand how the process works. Congress (both the House and the Seante) comes up with a bill that they mutually agree on and send it to the president's desk to sign. If all that happens, the bill becomes a law.

$12,000 stimulus checks would stimulate the economy.

What nobody is suggesting is bonuses or stimulus for the essential workers who have kept this country running at great risk to their families and their own lives. They can all go jump in the lake for forgetting about the people they depend on for the past 6 months while half the country got to sit at home drawing unemployment.

Thanks for the Schoolhouse Rock lesson but we already know that. Pretending Trump has no influence on that process is laughable.

It's not SOSHALIZM when it's for the rich.

LOL. So, you're saying that Pelosi will rubber stamp anything Trump wants?

McConnell is blocking conference.

yes, and McConnell just refused to address any stimulus bill...I wonder if Trump is cussing his butt out.

Ummmmmmmmmmm, Republicans were ready to sign off a long time ago on the things that both parties agreed to and yet the Democrats refused to pass things they actually agree on.

Indeed, the "Republicans" (whatever that means) were quite willing to do 100% of what they wanted to do provided that the "Democrats" (whatever that means) agreed to do 0% of what they wanted to do.

Mind you it is also true that, the "Democrats" (whatever that means) were quite willing to do 100% of what they wanted to do provided that the "Republicans" (whatever that means) agreed to do 0% of what they wanted to do.
