I can hardly wait to hear the rationalizations.
Seriously, anybody who voted for Trump must be aware of his get out of Afghanistan now policy as he's expressed over the last dozen or so year's through dozens of tweets and numerous interviews.

I'll call it now: I bet the top 5 most hardened Trump Supporters on this Fourm will be supporting his primary opponent two years from now; if Donny Doll Hands is still around.

I'm new around here so I don't know much about the player's...the years have taught me to not underestimate the number of braindead and the depths of stupidity, ignorance, or evil...none of which appears to be extinct around here...time will tell I guess.

You have to admit that they did not back what he was doing. Now that he brought the whites down and destroyed them, he might come back, reinvent himself and become the most popular president in history OR remain a nitwit and leave office in a few months, the worst embarrassment in U.S. history.

So Trump sells out the whites; then he can claim the Republicans didn't back him. He takes on a more moderate stance, forcing the Republicans left so that they don't appear as nutty as Trump and he becomes popular with the masses once again. If that narrative plays out, you might be right about him. America shifts left once again.

Obama got no place over 8 years and with a lot of goodwill at his back.

Let's see what the much hated Trump can do, given how much Obama sucked at the basics I am not willing to say that Trump will fail.

obama isnt president anymore so he doesnt matter. Trump said he would pull out of afghanistan. do you remember that? you need to get back on message.

Afghanistan was a policy where I disagreed with the candidate Trump. I would like to curb our involvement in the Middle East but that really requires true energy independence. I thought one of the strengths of his campaign policies was advocating greater domestic energy production. Yes, I believe we can and should drill our way out of that part of the world and leave them to themselves. However, without reaching that point, a power vacuum is not what we need.

I still favor many of his other policy positions but was never warm on isolationism. In this case, the President has moved closer to my position.

Were those the last dozen years where he didn't have inside information nor advice from military experts?

Should he stick to an idea even though it is bad for everybody concerned?

Obama appeased and payed off the Iranians. That is an accomplishment. But alas, Trump is in office, in part due to Obama policies, in part due to lack of a formidable opponent. I will never forgive either party's voters for nominating these poorest of choices. Now we have to deal with it. The losers are very sore, the winners are thumping their chests.
I am only speaking as an average opinionated middle aged woman, so allow me this guess. Trump is trying to keep the promises he made. His ego is too huge not to try his best. He is realizing that he has to deal with die hard political insiders who are used to their secret backroom dealings and won't let an outsider rattle their comfortable cages.
By political insiders I am speaking of career politicians from both sides. They are well versed in side show grandstanding for the average consumption, but are getting along just fine behind the curtain.
They are deathly afraid of anyone destroying their game.

It's kinda ironic in that his anti-war stance was one of the few things I come closest to agreeing with him on but then we would have been much better off had Poppy Bush not set up Saddam through April Glaspie and got us into the "Mother Of All Wars"...at any rate, knowing he's a compulsive liar, I didn't take much stock in what he said and now he's delegated it to the status quo.

We probably see quite a few Communications interns here.

And I guessed years ago that one person could easily perform message maintenance/reinforcement on a large number of sites using computers looking for keywords/phrases.

It only makes sense to defend what customers pay for in the arenas where they are most likely to be deconstructed.
 

It isn't complicated at all. We should leave Afghanistan and not look back. There is no military solution to it. No political one either.
