Supporters of US President Donald Trump have turned on him after he was denied a possible last chance to secure funding for his planned border wall.

Late on Wednesday, the US Congress approved a bill to keep federal agencies funded until February.

Trump's major campaign pledge was shot down by a vote in the Republican-controlled Senate. Interesting to see how many people actually believed his BS about the wall & Mexico paying for it.

May be a bit premature..... He has not sign the bill yet? Maybe a veto in the works!

Shut down a small part of the government and our Southern border!

Oh people are pissed at the republican lack leadership in the house and senate.

It is certainly amazing to see how many people took that statement literally.

He's got a secret plan so trust him, eh?

What's he going to do? Bomb the southern border?

Actually McConnell tried to message Trump in his remarks as the Senate went in to pass the CR on a voice vote (cowardly by the Senate to not call for the yeas and nays and get on the record) but what else is new.

At any rate McConnell the absolute most effective and consequential Senator of his era was telling Trump the score and what to do. The Wall is dead. Kick it off to February avoiding a shutdown. Then in February blame the Dems for not funding it. Mitch's message is as plain as the nose on your face Donald. But the chance of you reading it without McConnell actually coming over and spelling it out for you is likely none and none!

Boom................

Trump throws government funding deal into doubt, presses anew for border wall money :2wave:

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/white-house-throws-government-funding-deal-into-doubt-says-trump-does-not-want-to-go-further-without-border-security

A potential deal on Capitol Hill to avert a government shutdown with a short-term spending measure hit a roadblock Thursday as the White House said President Trump “does not want to go further” with anything that does not include sought-after funding for border security.

“The president is having a meeting with Republican House members at noon today,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement. “At this moment, the president does not want to go further without border security, which includes steel slats or a wall. The president is continuing to weigh his options.”

i don't believe it. they will frame it as some super smart double head fake or something. if the wall ends up not getting built, they'll just blame someone else. it's a great carrot and stick for his loyal mules.

Trump has no path here. He shuts down the Government, Trump and the GOP own it and then what? What path does he have to get what he wants to reopen the government? Two more weeks and the Dems have the House and the Wall was DOA in the Senate...always has been. Trump is just postponing the licking of wounds and is making the pain worse for himself and the GOP. He does not get his Wall and owns a shutdown if he does not smarten up.

The mistake the GOP made was in not seeing the beating they took in the mid-terms coming. They purposefully postponed Wall funding votes claiming they would do it after the mid-terms. "Yea sure you would". Either they did not face facts about the mid-terms or purposefully figured they would box Trump into a corner over a Wall that is only supported by his hard core. Nobody else wants this thing. This Wall stupidity is the surest sign of what happens when people don't go to the polls and you essentially end up with Minority rule.
