How do you know? There are no cost estimates by any public agency. All paid for with private funds.
Work crews have started cutting down trees, removing shrubs and digging up parts of the South Lawn of the White House as they begin work on President Donald Trump’s project to construct a $200 million, 90,000-square-foot ballroom on a site just south of the building’s East Wing. “Right there, you see all the trucks?” Trump asked reporters Thursday while on the South Lawn and pointing toward the East Wing. “They’ve just started construction of the new ballroom.”
Details of the project remain shrouded in secrecy and uncertainty. The White House has not released architectural plans for the building or its exact location and has, so far, not submitted the project to the National Capital Planning Commission, the government body that typically reviews plans for changes to federal property in the capital region.
No plans submitted. No cost estimates. No clearances. Just Trump doing whatever the hell he wants. At this point his ego has expanded beyond the orbit of Neptune.
No free school lunches. Cut Medicaid. Cut food stamps. Millions to rename the Department of Defense for... no one knows what reason. Not cost estimates for a ballroom. A ballroom.
If I wanted to destroy this republic, my guidebook would be filled with MAGA policies.
do we need a ballroom? If i were president i might have suggested that hundreds of millions be spent on more important things for the country, even if from private funds, but then again, i'm not an egotistical moron like trump is.All paid for with private funds.
Or abused. The question becomes how it will be utilized by a future administration.
On the people’s property…All paid for with private funds.
I’m sure “TRUMP” will be emblazoned on the crappy ballroom!Since it will be Trump's ballroom, will everyone be required to do his stupid dance? I'm sure they all will though, voluntarily.
Hopefully torn down and returned to open space. The question becomes how it will be utilized by a future administration.
Marie Antoinette would be drooling at the prospect of bejewelled nonentities dancing at the feet of King Donald. He already modelled his tasteless apartment after Versailles. Which is which? In any other developed country the government would be kicked to the curb for such reckless spending. Three Air Force Ones, 23 Marine Ones and this stupid ballroom.
Kings have been deposed and even executed for this level of ostentatious waste of public funds. "Let them eat cake" the orange monarch mutters as he demands gilded rooms then goes golfing - as his subjects wonder what happened to all his promises about inflation, jobs and debt reduction.
The elitist snobs can enjoy a meal in the Rose Garden while average Americans continue to see rising grocery prices.I’m sure “TRUMP” will be emblazoned on the crappy ballroom!
That's one potential use.Hopefully torn down and returned to open space.
A shelter for the destitute and homeless? That's one potential use.
Trump may bankrupt the White House they way he did three casinos and the Plaza Hotel.I wonder if he will be screwing the contractors like he did on the Taj Mahal.
His excuse for stiffing them? Their work wasn't good enough.I wonder if he will be screwing the contractors like he did on the Taj Mahal.
We pay people we they meet their contractual obligations and build according to the building codes. His excuse for stiffing them? Their work wasn't good enough.
Sure, that might be a good use as well, but it could be a security concern. Perhaps it could be office space for a new cabinet level agency such as an American NHS.A shelter for the destitute and homeless?
Yes! Oh yes, MAGA pigs want a gala of the ages. Trump will dance his potty dance shuffle and so will the room. They will post a video of it without a shred of shame, gloating how the ballroom was built to handle maybe 200 people but 5,000,000 rubes showed up outside to dance like him. Trump would look at their eager eyes in the window, his supporters cold and rained on, puppy dog eyes. He will smile, give a thumbs up, and close the blinds to get back to his premium tier fans. His supporters will love that humiliation and continue dancing.Since it will be Trump's ballroom, will everyone be required to do his stupid dance? I'm sure they all will though, voluntarily.

Unfortunately for Trump, and given his age, the one thing he will never win is the race against time. The Grim Reaper is hovering over his shoulder...Oh, so that's the art of the deal, hunh. You hire a contractor and agree to pay them for doing a job. Then, if the real world rears it's ugly head and the job takes longer than scheduled, you say nothing, let the contractor finish the work, and then you don't have to pay them by simply claiming it wasn't done on time.
You could have told them ahead of time that if it wasn't done on schedule they would not be paid. You could have written that into the original contract. You could have been up front with your needs. But no! By being sneaky about your intentions, this way you get free work and you have a built-in reason to stiff them. Right. What an asshole.
Yeah, maybe you even set up the deal so it's nearly impossible for the contractor to get done on time. Maybe you make unrealistic demands that can never be fulfilled. Perfect. Then you get all this work for free.
So, you have to wonder. When Trump stiffs contractors, does he then pay somebody else to rip out all the "unsatisfactory work," and then pay a 'better contractor' to come and redo everything?
Or does he just take the work and run with it after using the 'unsatisfactory' BS as an excuse to stiff the contractor. Then when somebody comes and admires everything, including the 'unsatisfactory work,' Trump takes full credit for making it so appealing. Yup. That sounds like him. Because he is an asshole.
Sooner or later, anybody who has anything to do with Trump regrets it. Because he thinks the world is an ego competition. He is a 'winner' and everybody else (Including you, and Rudy) is a 'loser.'
