The Trump administration has abruptly shifted the focus of its mass deportation campaign, telling Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to largely pause raids and arrests in the agricultural industry, hotels and restaurants, according to an internal email and three U.S. officials with knowledge of the guidance.
The decision suggested that the scale of President Trump’s mass deportation campaign — an issue that is at the heart of his presidency — is hurting industries and constituencies that he does not want to lose.
The new guidance comes after protests in Los Angeles against the Trump administration’s immigration raids, including at farms and businesses. It also came as Mr. Trump made a rare concession this week that his crackdown was hurting American farmers and hospitality businesses.
Yeah, I guess now you can go get one without the fear of ICE rolling up on you.TACO.
I guess the anti illegal immigration folks are going to be the next batch of disappointed people. Business leaders of those industries must have had a chat with him, since that seems to be the way Donnie Boy functions.Apparently Trump’s sinking approval numbers on immigration have convinced him that actually immigrants are fine. At least if they’re working in politically relevant industries. Or maybe the LA protestors have won a round, who knows.

What nonsense! Many highly skilled people will still want to make a future here, and come here legally. This will lead to increased exploitation of migrant workers and downward pressure on salaries and working conditions also for American workers. While academics and highly skilled workers will stay away from the US.
I think you should do some research about how Trump’s rhetoric and anti-immigration stance has put a damper on all migration to the US. Skilled people and border jumpers. What nonsense! Many highly skilled people will still want to make a future here, and come here legally.
Unless of course, like this guy, you are refused entry for saying mean things about the snowflake-in-chief.What nonsense! Many highly skilled people will still want to make a future here, and come here legally.
If I could read Trump's 'mind', I'm sure I'd find something along the lines of, 'if there's a revolution, I can be a hero'.So Trump has Americans at each other's throats over an issue is now qualifying. Just amazing.

I highly doubt Trump will deport nearly as many people as Obama did.Glad to see he’s adopted Obama’s approach to immigration.
Let’s see if he champion’s the DREAM act next.

Would be a big change for him if he did.

He deported fewer people than Obama or Biden.Well, he's committed to deporting about 12 million of them, so it won't be for lack of trying. His incompetence could get in the way.
Not so much when they have to worry about research funding being pulled away at any given moment and based on some culture war whim, or fearing their visas may be revoked because they express their opinions. Those are exactly the conditions people from developing countries flee from, so to come here and deal with it makes no sense, and it will definitely not make sense for those coming from other developed nations. What nonsense! Many highly skilled people will still want to make a future here, and come here legally.
