Donald Trump has made restoring American jobs a centerpiece of his campaign, a pledge he reiterated last week when he accepted the Republican nomination for president: “I’m going to bring our jobs back to Ohio and Pennsylvania and New York and Michigan and all of America,” he said. This month, Trump is bringing jobs to Florida, as he looks to hire 78 servers, housekeepers, and cooks at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach and the nearby Trump National Golf Club, Jupiter.
But instead of making sure those jobs go to Americans, he is seeking to import foreign workers for the positions, which pay $10.17 an hour for housekeepers, $11.13 an hour for servers, and $12.74 for cooks. He filed applications this month claiming he couldn’t find enough Americans to do that work, and is seeking temporary visas to bring in 65 workers at Mar-a-Lago along with another seven waiters and six cooks at the golf club.
The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment. A call to Mar-a-Lago was not returned, and an employee at the Jupiter golf club declined to comment. But in the past, Trump has defended his use of guest workers by saying there was no other way to fill the jobs.
Well, the standards to be brought-in are higher than it may seem on the surface, though - they gotta' pass that religious test!Read more @: Trump Seeks More Foreign Guest Workers For His Companies

Unemployment in that area is around 4.5%. That means that there really isn't the demand for jobs in that area. In this case, bringing in LEGAL immigrants is the right thing to do. I think that it would be great if we could help people who want these jobs, but live in ratholes like Detroit, move there, but short of that kind of effort, the only real alternative is to bring in some LEGAL immigrants. He filed applications this month claiming he couldn’t find enough Americans to do that work
If Trump said it then it must be true!Unemployment in that area is around 4.5%. That means that there really isn't the demand for jobs in that area.
If you read the article, you'd see that a local career center has 1200 potential candidates for those 70 jobs. I'm sure there are many more people than that, actively searching for that type of work in that area.Unemployment in that area is around 4.5%. Why is it easier to apply for H2 visas, than to run ads in nearby communities?I think that it would be great if we could help people who want these jobs, but live in ratholes like Detroit, move there, but short of that kind of effort, the only real alternative is to bring in some LEGAL immigrants.

"Officials at a nearby career services agency have seen it differently. Last year, Tom Veenstra, a senior director at Palm Beach’s career services center, told BuzzFeed News that he had “hundreds of people in our database that would qualify for a lot of those hospitality jobs.” In an email Wednesday, Veenstra said his agency, which is chartered by the state of Florida, has a database of 1,327 Palm Beach County residents interested in server, cook, and chef positions. He said local hotels are currently seeking his agency’s help to fill more than 856 such jobs"
Looks like Trump didnt look very hard to find some American workers.
Did you not notice the gaping hole of: If his job is finding other people jobs and he has over 1,300 people to fill 856 jobs, why aren't the jobs filled already?? Having a job available and being willing to take that job are two very different things. Unless of course you'd like it if people were simply told that there's a job available and that they have to take it without question or qualification???

But he is gonna make America work again! He's gonna put America and Americans first! Certainly he would reach out and try his hardest to get American workers!

..and that's where your hatred of the man blinds you... Look at the numbers that YOU posted. 850 jobs and 1300+ available employees. If it was a simple matter of more workers than jobs, then that number would be 0 jobs and 450+ workers available. But it isn't that simple. Qualifications, background checks, willingness, drug tests, etc all can combine to eliminate potential employees. But you don't want to think about that, all you want to do is find something to use to sling mud at Trump. It's low crap like this that has lowered the level of discussion in America to an idiotically low level. If you were objective and honest in your thinking, you would have seen this, since it's pretty stinking obvious when you take the time to think instead of just looking for crap to throw. Try a little objectivity in your posts some time...
......The Department of Labor requires proof that an employer seeking to import workers tried but failed to attract qualified U.S. workers.
Records show Mar-a-Lago appears to have done the bare minimum required by law. According to a CNN analysis of hundreds of pages of Labor Department documents, Mar-a-Lago did not place advertisements in the area's largest newspaper. Instead, ads were placed in a local paper with a small circulation and the ads were routinely posted for just two days, the minimum required by law.
In addition, employer statements on recruitment reports are self-reported, and federal employees told CNN that the Department of Labor does not have the resources to check the accuracy of them.....

faithful_servant, he said America is gonna work again! So many jobs we are gonna be overwhelmed! But he cant even run his own business with Americans? He brags about his business experience about he will be a great president at every turn, but he cant even hire American workers when he is running on that position?

From the CNN article:
The U.S. Department of Labor has confirmed to CNN that between 2013 and fall 2015, Trump's Mar-a-Lago club posted 250 seasonal job openings and filled just 4 of those jobs with American workers....
Tom Veenstra [is] senior director of support services at the Palm Beach County CareerSource office. It's a free service that links qualified job candidates with employers. And during the past two years, the agency has placed more than 50,000 people in jobs in Palm Beach County. Veenstra says he has no doubt he could fill Mar-a-Lago with U.S. workers.
"We have hundreds of qualified candidates for jobs like these," Veenstra told CNN. "That's what we do here. We help place local residents into jobs like those."...

I'm not sure where you're getting your numbers from, but they don't sound correct. Neither does the clam that they couldn't find Americans to fill those jobs.
And if they can make the effort to hire people from outside the country, do you really think it's impossible to advertise outside their immediate area? How is Trump's business finding these foreign employees? Who pays to bring them to the US? Where do they stay?
I also wonder if you'd accept your own rationale when it comes to anyone else's business. Are you fine with manufacturers requesting H2 workers, based on minimal attempts to fill jobs with American workers? Are you fine with expanding the H2 visa caps?
Uh huh
