Trump says he plans to phase out FEMA after 2025 hurricane season

Fyi:

This was a project 2025 goal.

All the people who said project 2025 wasn’t a thing, including Trump, were lying through their teeth.

And the people who are going to be hurt the most if they shut down FEMA are Trump supporters who live in red states who have fewer resources to deal with emergencies.
 
FYI;

FEMA cannot be phased out without Congress passing legislation doing so.

Trump is not a king.

Brought it up because of my experience with FEMA, Fire Teams, local/State authorities.

The fuel situation has been getting worse in the US for decades. It is not just "raking" the forest floor to solve the large fire problem. Call it whatever you want but fuel conditions got worse, urban interface issues have gotten worse.
When ignitions happen and the fire is fed by high winds, it is very difficult to stop.

Then you must know that the FEMA response to the fires last year was poor. Just as with the hurricanes in the south, aide was very slow in getting where it was needed, at least until Trump visited California after taking office.

I lived in Southern California for over two decades, I know about the Santa Ana winds.

Then you should know that it is no ones fault if a fire cannot be stopped till conditions (fuel / weather) changes under severe fire conditions.

Yeah that all sounds great, but...that's not what happened here in NC after Hurricane Helene. Local decision-making was gutted by Trump who demanded changes to our city's Small Business Loan Program before releasing federal dollars. Our city, Asheville, had little choice but to cave to his interference.

FEMA was a god-send for us volunteers who fed and housed victims who camped in tents through the winter months in the mountains. Their response was quick. We will miss them next time.
 
Good, let's hope Mar-a-Lago is hurricane-proof. Can't have the dolt-in-chief whining that FEMA aren't helping him...

It wasn't needed. Civil disobedience many times more disruptive has happened without having to shoot people, pepper spray or gas them. This is all on Trump and his pathetic attempt to make a weakling, so-called 'president' appear tough-and now he's being sued over it.
