Trump says Postal Service needs money for mail-in voting, but he’ll keep blocking funding

Congressional Democrats urged the USPS not to abandon long-standing practices for election mail processing

President Trump on Thursday repeated his unfounded claim that the U.S. Postal Service is incapable of facilitating mail-in voting because it cannot access the emergency funding he is blocking, casting the November election as illegitimate if voters submit ballots through the nation’s cash-strapped mail service. Speaking Wednesday at his daily pandemic news briefing, Trump said he would not approve $25 billion in emergency funding for the Postal Service, or $3.5 billion in supplemental funding for election resources. “They don’t have the money to do the universal mail-in voting. So therefore, they can’t do it, I guess,” Trump said. “Are they going to do it even if they don’t have the money?”[/COLOR] He repeated the claim without evidence Thursday morning in an interview on Fox Business Network with Maria Bartiromo, saying that without a “Phase IV” coronavirus relief spending bill, the Postal Service would be without the funding necessary to process the ballots. Trump’s remarks came hours after congressional Democrats intensified calls for more oversight of the agency and the new postmaster general, Louis DeJoy, a major Republican donor and Trump ally. The effort comes after DeJoy ushered a wholesale reorganization of agency’s executive ranks, restructured operations and instituted a hiring freeze on top of other cost-cutting measures already being blamed for significant mail backups.

Well Senator Collins, explain to us how Trump really learned a lesson when you let him wriggle off the impeachment hook.

Collins saying Trump has "learned a pretty big lesson" has to go down in history as one of the least perceptive statements ever made by a senior Senator. It calls into question most severely her judgement and/or her veracity. Trump had established a clear track record of not learning anything. Collins had no significant example to point out that Trump was "learning" anything.

He's learned pleanty, he with the help of Barr, Miller and Pompeo he's learned how to **** on our Constitution in ways no one, even the founders, dreamed of. He's learned nothing of how to govern equitably; who the **** needs that when you can use OUR Government to enrich yourself and the toddies that enable it?

Now Trump's new USPS butt boy is turning electoral ballot mailing from 1st class to bulk mail.

I would like to know how right wing media is justifying “let’s intentionally break the post office” to their viewers.

"anything to get our lily white, racist Pillsbury doughboy re-elected"

Unbelievable just how open he is with his corruption.

But the rubes don't care...because....cult...

They're doing everything they can to destroy the possibility of Mail-In voting during a pandemic because they don't want people voting.

This is getting quite ridiculous, it's a shame that the Cultists keep defending this obviously corrupt and unethical behavior.

This will blow up in his face. And in all the congressional candidates...imagine the debates: "Do you agree with defunding the post office to discourage Americans of their right to vote by mail?"

Trump doesn't care who or what he hurts to help himself. It's a dickhead move.
