He continued to be a major segregationist-forever champion until he left office at the age of nearly 101 as the proud and unbending racist senator for that cradle of treason, SC, in 2003. The Dixiecrat party may not have lasted after 1948 but the racist goals of it were in the fiber of every Southern Democrat who switched to Republican after the multiple CRAs of the 1960s. Nixon cultivated the South with his "Southern Strategy" (appeal to racism masking as the "law and order" or
