That's non sequitur. Has Trump specifically said that he wants to promote alternative energy? He doesn't need to be funded by oil companies. They already have control of congress and the market.

The democrats have tried to stop trump, but you are correct the gop headed that front. The reasons the democrats do not want him is he is unpredictable, they have no idea how to attack him and the attacks they have done never stuck.

For the gop he is a threat to seniority. He does not play by gop rules or bow to the gop donor class, which means the gop has no control over him. It is quite easy to see why the gop fought harder than anyone to get rid of him.
