Trump ready to begin drawdown of troops at US-Mexico border

Donald Trump is poised to start withdrawing troops from the US-Mexico border as early as this week, according to a report that prompted instant criticism that their deployment was a political stunt.

The US president spent the final weeks of the midterms election campaign whipping up fears of a migrant caravan travelling through Mexico towards the border. He sent in around 5,900 troops to prevent the “invasion” but, once polls closed, talked far less about the issue.

Well, what a surprise. Trump using US soldiers as propaganda pawns in the midterms? Say it ain't so.

Haha, the campaign is over, don't need to impress the yokels anymore.

So Trump sent 5,000 troops to the southern border, spending around $200,000,000 and the time of literally thousands of our soldiers, in the hopes of political gain?

Not to mention separating them from their families for no reason at all.

But but but....his base just loved it. Read the comments.

That's not what Trump was telling everybody before the election. He lied to you, and of course, you believe every word he says. Either that, or you just say he didn't say what he said. You are very transparent in his defense.

Sending the troops was all about "sending the message" which sucks but it has long been very common, especially in our very broken justice system, as you should know.

Let's not pretend that Trump doing it is any worse than anyone else who does it, which almost never do we have a problem with this being done in our name.

WE USED TO BE BETTER

I don't think you know what he has said about the troops...especially if you rely on what the multimedia echo chamber said about it.

He always said they were there to support BP and ICE. That's it.

Their understanding of reality is flawed, so their opinions and decisions are wrong.

You can lie about it all you want to, but Trump himself says you are lying.

Perhaps you can point me to a time stamp in which Trump says our troops will deal with the migrants.

That propaganda is propaganda. Trump cited the "invasion" of people who are still hundreds of miles away from the border as the principle reason he was sending the troops there. Of course, the election is over, and the caravan is still hundreds of miles from the border. Why is Trump withdrawing the troops now, while the "invasion" is still on it's way here? Easy answer. Because Trump was using the troops as pawns for his propaganda. Nothing else. The sick son of a bitch just blew 200 million in taxpayer money to feed his own sick ego.

a) Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen held a press briefing today, saying there are currently 6,200 "migrants" in Tijuana and more than 2,000 in Mexico City, plus several thousands more in several caravans in various stages en route.

b) The initial troops were mainly engineers setting up border enforcement and other logistics; most of them are going back to "home base" now.
After the Nov 6 election, 1,100 Marines were deployed to the border.

No propaganda ... serious border control taking place.

But just a couple weeks ago they numbered in the tens of thousands coming to rape our womenz and eat our babies. What happened?

I hope he doesn't since there are thousands of migrants in Tijuana trying to get across the border.

They are making a mess of the town, so something needs to get done one way or the other.

Tijuana has been a mess for years. This is nothing new.

They've been working to improve border barriers, and now most can withdraw back to their home bases.

Is that wood? Are they building barriers with wood?

Well, hell. **** that "buying a ladder at Home Depot." They can do away with that with a free pack of matches from the bar.

All that money and time wasted on a cheap stunt to try to get the rubes to vote for republicans...

A lot of them never made it south of Tucson.

And it worked - hook, line and sinker. Pathetic that some can be so easily duped.

Anyone remember Trump talking about using the military to build the border wall?

https://nypost.com/2018/03/25/trump-suggests-the-military-might-build-the-border-wall/

He sent troops down recently with orders to do something exactly like that, set up effective barriers at major crossing points, and that is exactly what they did over the last month.

Does the cognitive dissonance hurt yet?

Today in the news... millions of mexicans flooded the border when one of them realized that they were smoking a cigarette.

Oh, no, this is not bull****. It's not the military's job to help border patrol fill sandbags for a brief moment. "Fighting" a forest fire involves an actual fire. The military was never going to "fight" a caravan. They were put on the road to the southern border for Trump's election needs as he promoted the idea that their ROE's was going to be about shooting rock throwers. In the end, the military was exploited and used as a temporary and insulting working party to try to legitimize Trump's "deployment."

You people don't get to play this game now. Isn't it you all who rage and rage about illegals? Isn't it you people who declare that Democrats are weak on immigration? If Democrats were/are "weak" on immigration, wasn't it up to you crusading conservatives to save us all and do something? Well, after two years of congressional and White House power, all this GOP/Conservative blustering came to nothing.

Perhaps if you weren't so busy excusing Trump and seeking ways to further build your tower of worship, you would see that you, yourself, should be a bit outraged. Because, long before he exploited the military for his political gain, he was exploiting your fears of illegals.

As a Trump supporter I do agree with you that I am mad that the GOP has done nothing in the last 3 years to help fix our immigration system. But that's not Trumps fault. That's the fault of a hand full of republicans who support business profits over the lives of the citizens and migrants alike. But lets not also forget that all the democrats are against immigration reform as well.

120 million I believe.

Hmm, if you bothered to click the video, you must have been wearing ear plugs, or maybe you had your fingers in your ears, yelling "Nanananananana". LOL.

Yea, serious border control, with troops leaving. Haha. What makes this hilarious, is that you actually believe Trump on this. Stop paying attention to what he says. Pay attention to what he does. LMAO.

So...you can't. Okay.

Moving on...

It was always only, a very expensive, political stunt; red meat for his base.

Uh......

Could it be it has something to do with a federal judge order, that he can't stop asylum seekers?

Would you rather they sat around with nothing to do?

He sent them. They did their job. Time for them to go home. There's nothing political about it...just smart use of our military.

You know...it just occurred to me...perhaps you don't know what those soldiers have been doing. Heck, perhaps you don't know what the caravans are doing.

Perhaps you don't care about your own ignorance as long as it gives you a chance to "get Trump".

Moving on...
What job did they do besides acting as props for the midterms? The migrants are still hundreds of miles away.

"...hundreds of miles away"???

Seriously? Is that what you think?

Tell you what...get yourself up to speed on current events and we can talk.

btw, sorry to tell you this, but to get yourself up to speed you'll have to actually get some news from reputable news sites. The likes of CNN, etc won't get it.

You can lie about it all you want to, but Trump himself says you are lying.

Trump seems to think his base are lower than pond scum, lower than even himself. Just look at his last election campaign, designed to energize cowardly racists.

Trump and G.O.P. Candidates Escalate Race and Fear as Election Ploys

And largely stupid

Donald Trump declares 'I love the poorly educated'

So according to Trump's behaviour, he should attack Latinos, lie about why the Troops were sent, and the base will love him. Seems to be working, eh?
