Trump passes Romney's popular vote total, will break Republican record...

And we all know why you are taking that position.

Because it is right? Republicans have a more competitive primary than the last several nomination campaigns. More people are motivated to vote. There was no point in people taking time out of their day's to vote for Romney, McCain, Bush, or Dole at this point because they had already taken out all the competition. It makes perfect sense that Trump has more overall votes than they do.

With his five blowout wins Tuesday night, Donald Trump has passed Mitt Romney’s popular vote total from four years ago and is on a trajectory that could land him more Republican votes than any presidential candidate in modern history – by a lot.

Trump surged to more than 10 million votes, according to totals that include Tuesday’s preliminary results across the Northeast. That’s already about 250,000 more than Romney earned in the entire 2012 primary season and 153,000 more than John McCain earned in 2008.

More significantly, Trump is positioned to easily pass the modern record-holder, George W. Bush, who collected 10.8 million votes in 2000.

Trump passes Romney’s popular vote total, likely to break GOP record - POLITICO

I'm shocked he hasn't done something to run himself out of the race.

The pundits are all scratching their heads, trying to figure it out. But the reality is, people are fed up with the status quo. Republicans and Democrats aren't that different and a large segment of our population has no interest in either. So, rather than going through the long tedious process of creating another party and building public sentiment behind it, they are just voting for the person that is least political. Trump could kick a baby and shot a dog on stage and he'd still gain support. Anything but Washington is the overriding theme. I can't say I blame them.
