Trump on Putin plan to recognize breakaway Ukraine regions: 'This is genius'

A poster mentioned earlier in another thread that if Trump was President, Ukraine would be Russian by now
Cannot recall who but on the money
Funny post.
Russia did not invade Ukraine when Trump was president. They did it twice with Biden, Once in 2014 and now.
One more failure for Brandon's administration. Still sinking in the polls.

Trump really does love Putin.
Trump wants to BE Putin.... actually rich, in control of everything, accountable to no one and able to kill those that disagree with him. Trump is, without a doubt, the most unAmerican person ever to spend the night in the White House. We all should be ashamed that he was elected.

I think Trump more or less remarked how Putin took a page out of our own playbook.

Start a seperatist movement
Then support the break away region as a "peacekeeper".

That's the exact type of shit our own government has pulled all over the world.

I think he remarked how Putin learned it from us.

So you are in full support of traitors who cheer for our global enemies. Must make you very proud.

That didn't work out too well for the USSR; the West could have learned from the failure of the Soviet Union to subdue the Afghans. In truth I'm torn over this issue; morally it's repugnant, legally it's a crime under International Law, and it's inherently extremely dangerous, not only for the immediate region but the wider European continent. That said it's not hard to understand why Russia considers the West's condemnation hypocritical, given our history of foreign adventurism, invasions and interference in the internal politics of sovereign nations.
My point was that the USSR got their asses handed too them in Afghanistan, as the body bags came home. The Ukrainians may do the same thing.

The Russian argument is weak. By their logic, Iraq should get Kuwait back, because it was made independent in 1920 and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania would like a bunch of territories back too.

Still peddling the old fake Steele Dosssier, huh? The false one that's resulting in criminal indictments?
It shows how contemptuous the Left are of reality and truth.
They think this is a team sport, and just want to support their team, no matter what.

Didn't America and its allies invade and recognize the region of Kosovo, which was part of Serbia?

It was more like NATO forces, but continue...
Isn't Guantanamo part of Cuba? What are American forces doing there? Do they have permission from the current govt in Havana to be there?
Yes, but the U.S. has leased that portion of the island we affectionately call "Gitmo" since 1901. American forces remain there because we still lease that portion of the island. And yes, Havana gives its permission for the U.S. Naval forces to remain at Gitmo and for its continued use as a naval base as long as they keep cashing those $4,000 checks every year.

The lease agreement for your reading pleasure.

1. Biden is not sinking in the polls. He has leveled off in Trump territory (though doesn't have Trump's negatives)
2. Putin has been planning this for 10 years. We can blame Obama and Trump for not stopping and especially Trump for putting large cracks in the armor of NATO.

Considering Trump’s comments legitimizing an invasion of a foreign country by Russia, it should be obvious to EVERYONE now that Trump was Putins extended arm in the White House, establishing a Russian satellite state within the US during 2017-21, aimed at weakening or destroying the US from within.

Time to wake up, Trump cultists !

I don't see it as cheering.

Putin made a very sly move by backing up the seperatist movement. It's one NATO will have a hard time opposing with military force without looking like hypocrites to the rest of the world.

Trump to me was just giving the devil his due.

It was a smart move. One that Joe Biden has to calculate. And we know Joe Biden is pretty much incompetent, and Putin knows it too. So it was extra sly.

NATO isn't going to stop Russia anyway.

The largest nuclear arsenal in the world is in the hands of the Russians.

Joe Biden missed his chance to deal with Putin on equal footing because he's incompetent.

Putin knows exactly what Joe Biden is going to do, Joe Biden has no idea what Putin could do.

We're being led by a tool.

More praise of Putin and of Trump praising Putin. This sort of action used to be called being “traitorous” but is now called “being a Republican”. Must make you very proud to be rooting for our global enemy. I know that it makes Putin very happy to see this sort of conduct from American citizens like you and Trump and Tucker Carlson. There is a term for this sort of conduct: “useful fools” for our foes.

It shows a strong force. Biden's response on Monday was tepid and weak.
That line was cheap. It cost you nothing. Now pay to price for our attention: why should Biden have done. If you claim its tepid and weak, then you have a standard to measure that to, so let's hear what he should have done. The mic is yours.

I don’t think it will be like Crimea, which was weakly defended. Ukraine is being given advanced weapons and has a dedicated population willing to fight. I see it more like Russia and Afghanistan.

GTFO - as if Ukrainians will strap on suicide vests. Russia smashed the Chechens pretty quickly under Putin.

I think if you're into watching golden showers take place, watching two women urinate on the bed your predecessor slept in isn't too far fetched.

Another liberal propaganda hit piece to take blame away from Biden’s foreign policy failure…
If this is a Biden foreign policy failure, what actions would you suggest should have been taken? Should Biden have sent active military personnel to expel Russian forces from the Ukraine? If not, what?

The U.S. has provided Javelin anti-tank missiles and Ukrainian civilians are armed and can make winning costly.

"All we are saying is give peace a chance". LOL. Putin had a plan and he is in the process of executing it. He saw Biden as President, he's seen him as VP and knew the resistance to his plan would be weak if at all. So here we are.
Trump was commenting on this fact. Putin knew he would get little resistant from Biden. So in terms of what Putin has done he was smart.

Really? How long did it take? And why exactly are you cheering for a Russian war against those who wanted freedom and independence.

Blah blah blah. What would Trump have done?

Surprised? No. Disappointed? Still no. I'm glad Trump is continuing that he would not, in fact, have been hard on Russia.
Why?

Economic sanctions wouldn't have prevented Russia from invading Ukraine, but they have the potential of harming Russia's economy making it difficult for them to make weapons long term. If the Russian economy tanks, the Kremlin can't borrow money to keep the military machine going. At the very least fighting men still need to feed their families back home away from the front lines. And you can't make a bomb if you can't afford bomb making materials.

Will the sanctions save Ukraine? Very unlikely, but will feel the economic impact from their decision to invade Ukraine for a long time.

I didn't see any media predictions for what happened to Czechoslovakia Ukraine yesterday. While I object to the Russian actions, it does seem clever. Other than the messenger, who can't stop bloviating, what is incorrect about his statement about it being "genius"?
Clearly, somebody knows Putin took a page of out Hitler's playbook. 😏

By what standard do you call Biden’s response weak? Biden put sanctions in place, sent additional arms and will likely add sanctions. Trump tried dropping Obama sanctions on Russia and now praises Putin.

Unless you’re suggesting that Biden send troops, what exactly was weak?
