No, winning the Nobel peace prize nowadays is like a democrat getting an endorsement from the NY times. The most comical wasn't Obama- it was the IPCC climate team winning it.

Since when do Democrats have anything to do with the Nobel Peace Prize? News flash: they don't. It's The Norwegian Nobel Committee that decides (they are appointed by the Storting (i.e. the Norwegian parliament)).

You falsely asserted that only “left wingers” are awarded Nobel Prizes. Kissinger is the most prominent Republican recipient of a Nobel Prize. That’s the primary reason I chose to highlight his contribution.

There are certainly many more American conservatives that have been recognized with the prestigious award since it's beginning in 1900, but because political affiliation isn’t considered when bestowing the honor in any of the six categories, searching through the histories of hundreds of recipients is pointless.

The selection committee usually reflects the Storting somewhat, as in when the right wing dominates in Norwegian politics and a seat opens up a right winger gets it, and ditto for when the left or the centre dominates.

Humanitarians are always chosen because that is who the Peace Prize was created for. The fact that many more liberals than conservatives are awarded the Peace Prize shouldn’t be a surprising at all, considering the differences between the two ideologies.
