Trump lies about pre-existing conditions right to voter's face

Not sure of the details, but Stephanopolous clearly stated that Trump was trying to get rid of the pre-existing condition safety net.

Which was a lie, period.

It's only a lie if you look at what Trump is DOING, versus the lies he's telling all of us about those actions.

Gaslighting isn't a good look, Comrade.

The town hall was a clown show.

Did you follow the 2016 election at all?

Trump spent the entire debate cycle, both in the primaries and against Hillary, arguing that he would fight to protect pre-existing conditions.

And in response to question after question, assured voters that he would replace the ACA with another plan that would protect pre-existing conditions.

I assume that the EO is planned to help bridge any gap between the ACA being potentially repealed and the new plan being passed.

Regardless, to state that Trump does not intend to protect pre-existing conditions is a flat out lie.

I have a lot of respect for Stephanopoulos, but this was not him at his finest.

The town hall was a clown show.

Trump seemed tired, but at least he was able to answer questions without reading off a teleprompter. And asking his staff to move the teleprompter up out loud.

I’d like to see Joe appear on a Hannity Town Hall, no teleprompter, with conservative questioners, and Hannity backing them up. Let’s see how he does.

Which was a lie, period.

On August 7th, the president said the following:

“Over the next two weeks I’ll be pursuing a major executive order requiring health insurance companies to cover all pre-existing conditions for all customers,” Trump said at a news conference at his golf property in Bedminster, New Jersey.

By my calendar, it's been over two weeks. Where is the executive order so we can determine how this magic is supposed to happen? Do you honestly believe you can require insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions AND allow people to opt out of coverage and keep costs reasonable?

Again, we can look at what he is DOING or the lies he's telling us. I prefer to judge him on his ACTIONS, and not his series of broken promises. Repealing the ACA WILL END PREEXISTING CONDITION PROTECTIONS. That's just what will happen, the consequences of repealing ACA. Until he comes up with a plan he's promised for five years about how to solve the problem other than how ACA did it, only idiots and mouth breathing morons care about his empty promises.

It's difficult to protect those with pre-existing conditions. If we do that, there are trade-offs. You were whining about insurance premiums going up. Well, if insurers are forced to take on a bunch of previously uninsured cancer patients or diabetics or the obese or those with heart disease, their costs go up and so will premiums. The ACA dealt with that with the mandates - forcing everyone to GET insured to hopefully increase the pool of sick and healthy patients, to keep premiums at reasonable levels.

What's Trump's plan to deal with those issues? NOTHING.

He makes a bunch of promises, but doesn't tell us how he will get there. Those promises are worthless. Trump also promised to balance the budget and pay off the national debt in 8 years. Of course he had no plan to get there, and he signed a bunch of tax cuts that made deficits and the debt worse, but you want us to believe his lies. The first time around, people had an excuse. This time everyone but MAGA cultists know better.

Jasper, the talking point that repealing the ACA will eliminate the pre-existing conditions guarantee is a myth.

Trump has clearly explained this, over and over, dating back to the 2016 Republican Primaries.

Many Republican members of Congress have vocalized this as well, repeatedly.

No one is going to get rid of the pre-existing conditions guarantee.

George Stephanopolous has been covering politics this entire time, he is well aware.

Trump: order on pre-existing conditions a '''double safety net''' despite Obamacare law | Reuters

AUGUST 10 said:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Monday an executive order requiring health insurance companies to cover patients with pre-existing conditions would emphasize Republican support for the practice even though it is already part of existing law.

...

Asked on Monday why he needed an executive order to mandate something that is already legally required, Trump said it would provide “a double safety net” and would “let people know that the Republicans are totally, strongly in favor of ... taking care of people with pre-existing conditions.”

Republicans opposed Obamacare as a whole, but the provision to cover pre-existing conditions has proven very popular with Americans.

Which proves that Stephanopolous was lying.

Your gaslighting in defense of Trump is getting pathetic.

If you believe it's a "myth" then what mechanism other than what's in the ACA will protect those with pre-existing conditions? Trump is working like heck to repeal the ENTIRE ACA, root and branch. The replacement plan on the table at this point and for the past 5 years is NOTHING.

So show me a link, to some evidence. We get tired of your lies, so if you want to make statements like that, back them up, so we can confirm them.

Do you honestly believe you can require insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions AND allow people to opt out of coverage and keep costs reasonable?
Yes, absolutely.

People with conditions that require extensive treatment would have to pay a bit more, this is only fair. But there is no way they will be denied coverage.

Under Obama, you had everyone splitting the cost of everyone’s medical expenses equally, which is socialism, and which bankrupted thousands.

You appear to have no idea how insurance works..

Your posts show that you paid absolutely no attention whatsoever to the 2016 Republican primaries, where all this was discussed in detail.

You are also conveniently omitting the discussion of the EO.

Literally any Republican in Congress can answer these questions for you.

Which proves that Stephanopolous was lying.

It's been nearly six weeks. Where's the promised order?

Oh, yeah, that's another of a long line of Trump's broken, empty, worthless promises.

I'm 'pursuing' plans to get everyone a house, car.... and a pony!...and world peace!! and puppies for everyone!! And a 20 hour workweek so you can train the puppies!! and a balanced budget with no tax increases or spending cuts!! Vote for me!

I don't care about empty, worthless campaign promises. Trump has been President for nearly 4 years now. What's he DONE?

Perhaps he's been busy handling a pandemic, fires, and Democrat race riots. It's a symbolic EO. He's been consistent on that. His position on pre-existing conditions is public.

The EO will bridge any gap between the ACA being repealed and the new Republican replacement plan.

Are you trying to bury the posts about Stephanopolous lying lol?

The ACA...

tl/dr

I asked for evidence of how Trump plans to protect pre-existing conditions, you can't provide it because it doesn't exist. I show Trump lied about the executive order, you moved the goal posts. If you want to have a discussion, do it honestly.

It's amazing that anyone can deceive him or herself enough to believe him.
Republicans have conditioned their voters to accept lies.
They tell them that tax-cuts pay for themselves. Their voters believe it.
They tell them that we have to cut Medicare now so we don't have to cut it in the future. Their voters believe it.
They told them that government stimulus would devalue the dollar and create hyperinflation. Their voters believe it.

The EO will bridge any gap between the ACA being repealed and the new Republican replacement plan.

The republicans have had more than four years to introduce a replacement. Why have they been waiting?

I have to defer this to someone who has more specific knowledge, but one thing I can vouch for 100% is the fact that Trump has vocalized over and over, since the 2016 primaries, that he will protect all Americans with pre-existing conditions.

Stephanopolous lied twice during that town hall, once about this, and once about soldiers being called losers and suckers, trying to quickly slip the line in without Trump hearing it.

Teleprompter Joe needs to try a Hannity town hall, let’s see how that one goes.
