In what appears to be a little house cleaning, Trump has announced plans to remove Kirstjen Nielson as Homeland Security Secretary. This is going to be yet one more hole in his cabinet, there are many positions that are still remain unfilled.

Trump is preparing to remove Kirstjen Nielsen as Homeland Security secretary, aides say

President Trump has decided to remove Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, and her departure from the administration is likely to occur in the coming weeks, if not sooner, according to five current and former White House officials.

Trump canceled a planned trip with Nielsen this week to visit U.S. troops at the border in South Texas and told aides over the weekend he wants her out as soon as possible, these officials said. The president has grumbled for months about what he views as Nielsen’s lackluster performance on immigration enforcement and is believed to be looking for a replacement who will implement his policy ideas with more alacrity.

The announcement could come as soon as this week, three of these officials said.

Firing Nielsen? Surely that will be the key which finally turns Trump's nightmarish administration into a well-oiled machine. Surely that will take care of the influx of refugees across our southern border. What a cancer Nielsen is. We can all breathe a sigh of relief when she's gone.

nielsen is a protege of mattis
mattis is not one of tRump's current favorites
the president is also pissed that nielsen has not been as aggressive as he wants against illegal immigrants
so the obvious anti-Hispanic replacement is joe arpaio
 
She actually seemed one of the sharper and more professional of his admins. I wonder wazzup? I suspect he's going to install a lackey that will help him cause some havoc to break the media out of covering his losing streak.

God, what a horrendous pick. A felonious individual, that is only a non-felon by virtue of Trump's pardon. Argh! He should NOT be working in law enforcement! :doh
 
He's in serious danger of losing everyone with a brain or experience and being left only with yes-men and sycophants. Many of his people are hard right wingers but they're not idiots. Bolton and Pompeio can do the job for example. But how many of these can he afford to lose?

I think the handwriting is on the wall that Mattis is on his way out within the next couple of months.
 
Stephen Miller was Senate aide to Jeff Sessions. Stephen Miller is a key advisor to Trump and he'll continue to draft and lead changes to the immigration system. Jeff Sessions was a real SOB. For immigrant advocates, Sessions’ departure was welcomed. The ACLU called him the worst attorney general of modern history. The National Immigration Law Center tweeted that Sessions would be remembered for his “disregard of the Constitution” and “well-being of our communities.” The group Freedom for Immigrants said Sessions “never cared about justice. He only cared about making immigrants’ lives miserable.”

Now Nielson will be gone and Kelly is not going to be happy, he's going to be even more miserable than he is now. Stephen Miller's evil plans are going to have to be put on hold for a while until Trump comes up with someone more evil than Jefferson Sessions.

It was Joe Arpaio's doing that tent cities were put up in the dessert way back in 1993. Despite racial profiling allegations, election law violations, sex crimes violations, failure to investigate serious crimes and abuse of powers, Joe Arpaio was still allowed to run in 2018 for the Senate in Arizona and he received 19% of the vote! What in the hell is wrong with people?

Watching this administration meltdown is really something. I just hope it will not go down as the beginning of the end for the US. But, it has all the hallmarks.

Other posters suggested Joe arpiao, I tend to agree that would make the most since giving Trumps track record of hiring the worst possible person for that specific job. Of course she could be his assistant :)
