None of this matters to his voter base. A quick check of FiveThirtyEight's combined polls this a.m. showed a one tenth of one percent drop in approval rating from yesterday. His voting base is composed of people who see their culture changing about them and seek a standard bearer to take the United States of America back to the good old days.* That those days hid a lot of cultural problems under the rug is evident. That our {US] culture is changing, along with our demographic make-up, is also all too evident these days. President of the United States of America Donald Trump serves as a symbol, as does 'the wall'. His personal make-up is immaterial for his supporters. Their faith has been rewarded by his Supreme Court choices. He is, essentially, manipulated by the 'conservatives' and, perhaps, by certain strong man national leaders as well.

Tax avoidance is legal use of the tax code to your personal benefit. Anybody that does not think there is a pile of tax evasion that Trump Corp has been conducting all these years, PLEEEEEEASE give me some of what you are smoking.

Both can be true at the same time. That said Tax Avoidance holds a major threat to Trump because depending on the results of the audit, he will likely end up with back taxes, interest and penalties to pay. You are not relieved of your tax obligation just because you made an "honest mistake". Tax Evasion would throw Donnie into the Courts fighting to stay out of jail as well.

In Trump's the results of an audit decision against him would likely result in millions of $ of back taxes, interest and penalties though the IRS would likely negotiate the amount. Of course none of this happens until the crooks including Mnuchin at Treasury are out of office.

Except it’s not a joke because what matters equally as much is what those assets are. Trump’s assets are mostly or entirely in the form of real estate, i.e. skyscrapers and such. AND Trump used his personally owned, not corporation owned, properties as collateral. So if Trump has $5B of debt then he’s going to be forced into public auction of those properties including but not limited to his own home to pay the debt.
