President Donald Trump leveled unusually pointed criticism of a prominent conservative legal activist and organization Thursday as he railed against a ruling that struck down his sweeping tariffs. The president, in a post on his social media platform, slammed Leonard Leo, the former chair of the Federalist Society, calling him a “sleazebag” who “probably hates America.” It was a striking characterization of Leo, who played a key role in working with Trump to shape the conservative Supreme Court. “He openly brags how he controls Judges, and even Justices of the United States Supreme Court — I hope that is not so, and don’t believe it is!,” Trump wrote.
I don't think Trump's objection is so much with the Supreme Court recommendations, though I'm sure Trump has a better idea about who would be good from a constitutionalist perspective now than he did back then.Trump goes after Leonard Leo and the Federalist Society in fury over court ruling
If Trump's mouth is moving, he is lying. When the time came for Trump to nominate a Supreme Court Justice, he always conferred with Leonard Leo of the ultra-Conservative Federalist Society. The three Supreme Court Justices Trump nominated - Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett - are all members of the Federalist Society. The problem is not with the Justices/judges, but that Trump demands US judges rule in a manner that is best for him, regardless of what US law specifies.
And Trump always complaining about unelected judges? Most of the judges ruling against him so far (Trump has lost in 181 court rulings so far) are nominated judges rather than elected judges. The judges ruling against Trump were nominated by both Democrat and Republican presidents.
Despite what he may believe about the presidency, Trump does not possess absolute power. Folks... judges holding the real bench power in the US are nominated to their bench position rather than elected to the position.
Trump's complaint is hogwash.
The blame, Trump said, lay with the Federalist Society.
“I am so disappointed in The Federalist Society because of the bad advice they gave me on numerous Judicial Nominations,” he wrote. “This is something that cannot be forgotten!”

Except that Trump has no backbone or a clue what to do.I don't think Trump's objection is so much with the Supreme Court recommendations, though I'm sure Trump has a better idea about who would be good from a constitutionalist perspective now than he did back then.
No, I think it's all those crooked lower court judges the Federalists recommended who are now engaging in judicial activism and corruption.
Anyway, I don't think Trump needs to rant on Truth Social about this. Just make the change...kick the Federalist Society to the curb...and, if someone asks him about his decision, THEN explain why.
You are quite wrong.Except that Trump has no backbone or a clue what to do.
He can always “hook wire to copper.”You are quite wrong.
Trump's record shows he is a wimp on just about everything. Trump's stupidity is a national threat. You are quite wrong.

I doubt it but we can hope they do what is right. And at a time when much of Trump’s agenda is facing tests at the Supreme Court, Trump’s vitriolic attack on Leo has the potential to further distance the president from the court’s conservative justices. All three of Trump’s high court nominees, as well as Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, are known to be close to Leo.
He poops on the ConstitutionI don't think Trump's objection is so much with the Supreme Court recommendations, though I'm sure Trump has a better idea about who would be good from a constitutionalist perspective now than he did back then.

LOL!!Trump's record shows he is a wimp on just about everything. Trump's stupidity is a national threat.
I'm appalled by him threatening anyone. That's what arrogant bullies do.LOL!!
Tell that to the EU. All he had to do was threaten European companies
and the leader of the EU called him and begged him to give her more time.

Huh, then why did Dumb Donald send out letters the other day that, in essence, said "please, please send me your best and final trade deals" by COB Wednesday??LOL!!

Do you have an example of one of these letters?Huh, then why did Dumb Donald send out letters the other day that, in essence, said "please, please send me your trade deals" by EOB Wednesday??
I mean, if the EU and others are tripping over themselves to get trade deals done with the US?
Or, do they know that the bond markets will keep TACO Don in check?
Here's a link for you.Do you have an example of one of these letters?
LOL!!Here's a link for you.
I'm not one of the countries.
But, the FACT that such a letter is going out....roughly 30 days before the end of the "pause" is what they call a "tell" in poker.
And the "tell" is: "the US is desperate to make deals so c'mon fellas....."
Huh, then why did Dumb Donald send out letters the other day
