The government shut down costs nearly a billion dollars per day. The Democrats have now burned more than the entire costs of the 300 miles Trump wants to add to the existing Pelosi-Schumer 700 mile border barrier.

why is Trump the exception? why is it that every other politician can make campaign promises and not fulfill them but you're holding Trump's feet to the fire?

This "they don't want him to win!" stuff was even more true under Obama, than it is right now against Trump. Republicans opposed everything Obama sought to fix, because McConnell's objective was to "make Obama a one term president", so please cry me a river that Democrats remember those times.

I don't recall Obama trying to fix anything, he wanted to change things and fundamentally change the country. He talked a lot about that. But he didn't fix anything.

Further, the Democrats probably would have given him some kind of barrier (they cave on everything), if he had merely done it in a proper context, instead of doing what Republicans always do, and take human hostages to get he wanted.

Imagine if the next Democrat president holds the government hostage indefinitely to extort Republicans on policy you don't support.

No Republican cares if the government shutdown. I'd say it's a good thing even during Trump's presidency. Hopefully if it goes long enough we can start sacrificing government agencies that don't need to exist. I heard TSA agents are walking off the job and that's good TSA shouldn't exist.

So the government being shut down as a good thing.

I think the people who benefitted from the ACA would disagree with you, as would the people whose homes were saved from foreclosure, thanks to Obama. Then there are all of us whose 401Ks went back to the value they were before he took office, then continued to grow. And possibly the people who were unemployed in 2007-2008 who got jobs after 2009.

Nobody is holding Trump's feet to the fire on his campaign promises. He's free to fulfill them all. Have Mexico pay for the wall. Who is stopping him from doing that? Certainly not the Democrats.

She has been open to a vote on the wall in the House, but has made it clear it would never pass.

Shutting the government down to force your opponents to change their votes is not negotiating, it's extortion.

And so the government shutdown. I am more hopeful over that than anything. the TSA is breaking down and good they should have ever existed in the first place. Hopefully some more government agencies will fall.

You can call that childish but I'm not a supporter of a giant oppressive governments that molest children and old ladies in airports and fail to do the job they're meant to do.

This is good. Hopefully it lasts for a good long time.

Just don't use public roads (that's state and federal), don't use any medical facilities if you get sick (that's all run by HHS), don't eat any US food (that's kept clean by the EPA and FDA), etc.

Just form a commune and make everything on your own.

so the record low unemployment that we're seeing right now it's not because of trump but the average unemployment rate during Obama's term was Obama.

Who is everyone else who got screwed over when a few million people who couldn't get insurance were all of a sudden able to get it?

I don't know perhaps it was my insurance shooting up 200%. and the fact that if I didn't pay it the government would steal money from me.

These things didn't exist prior to ACA. but now that I have to have government approved health care which is way too much for me I'm spending way more than I would need to I'm getting screwed.

I don't know if you know this but I work for my money.

If I can't make my house payment because of either government fines or ridiculous healthcare I don't need, I can just go rot in hell because I'm not dying of cancer right?
