Trump defies virus rules as '''peaceful protest''' rallies grow

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is running as the “law and order” candidate. But that hasn’t stopped him and his campaign from openly defying state emergency orders and flouting his own administration’s coronavirus guidelines as he holds ever-growing rallies in battleground states.

Democratic governors and local leaders have urged the president to reconsider the events, warning that he’s putting lives at risk. But they have largely not tried to block the gatherings of thousands of people, which Trump and his team deem “peaceful protests” protected by the First Amendment.

“If you can join tens of thousands of people protesting in the streets, gamble in a casino, or burn down small businesses in riots, you can gather peacefully under the 1st Amendment to hear from the President of the United States,” Tim Murtaugh, a Trump campaign spokesperson, said in a statement.

Trump is back to holding bigger & bigger indoor rallies. I wonder if he considers the negative fallout & risks involved?

HaH ! the President isn't violating any rules. He announces his location. If the adult attendees visit in protest it is they who break the ridiculous rules.

see my sig #1 below. Sad state of affairs but I am patient because of sig #2.
have a good day.

Your logic is flawed. How does President Trump not count towards the total in attendance? President Trump violated the rules.

you call it the way you see it; I call it the way I see it.
I will not be dissuaded.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak has mandated people must wear face coverings while in public spaces which includes private businesses, casinos, and hotels.

Of course not. Closed mind. Got it.

I did not cast aspersions toward you; why do you feel it necessary to do so toward me ?
A Lacking of common courtesy is becoming normal conversation but is not a good communication trait
make a great day for yourself Mike.

"I can't defend my point, and I just got the vapours, I need to go lay down.."

My remarks was in response of your last statement of "I will not be dissuaded." , hence the "closed mind".
Thought the green smile would have given you enough clue that I was just jabbing at you.

Nothing personal. So I apologize.

As far as communication I asked reasonable question. The answer was you call it the way you see it..

I was looking from you on why President Trump would not count toward the gathering limit set by Nevada for the pandemic.

Have a good one and be safe.

Trump only needs his followers to survive until Nov 3, after that they are expendable.

Aahhhhb, okay, my misunderstanding. I extend a mutual apology.
to the question: my observation,
Under normal, economic, socio/political, times it's reasonable to think restrictions could/should apply.
That said, as you recognize, these are far from normal times.
A force of nature, the virus, has infested the entire world; in this country it has become politicized.
That politicization has now become weaponized. Social/political normalcy no longer exists.
There's something very wrong with society when some large gatherings, protests/riots, have at the very least tacit approval when other large gatherings, due to opposing political stance, are looked upon as illegal. :peace
