Mexico’s paying for it with trade savings. Democrats should fund it with tax dollars. Fickle Trump gives Twitter whiplash.

During President Donald Trump’s frenzy of tweets Monday, he appeared to contradict himself on funding for his border wall within minutes.

First, he promised: “MEXICO IS PAYING FOR THE WALL.” Then, in the next tweet 11 minutes later, he attacked the Democrats for what he predicted will be their decision to allocate “NOTHING to border security, namely the Wall.”
==========================================
Trump may be in the process of losing it. IOW, dementia.

This entire Gov. shutdown is nothing but a deliberate distraction to take the focus off Mueller's Russia probe & all his former allies who have plead guilty to various crimes & are going to go to prison.

This...is not news. BUT I mean, what the literal ****??? He's going nuttier today than last night. Surprisingly though, he didn't notice CNN hosts Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon were trending. Guess he was just busy watching that Fox News guy hit on young girls at a party...

"appeared" being the key word there. Meaning that what Trump said could be spun into what some want to consider it as.

Yep, that is quite a contradiction. Maybe in the (feeble?) mind of Trump so long as someone partially funds the Great Wall Of Trump then that counts as a win and campaign promise kept (even if it never gets built?). The accounting/funding problem belongs to congress - Trump just wants his wall (or slatted steel fence with a really pointy top).

Its fairly difficult to spin "Mexico is paying for..." into "Congress must borrow to fund..." even using the most fragmented versions of TrumpSpeak imaginable.

This is the type of crap that is just annoying... lack of comprehension and then attacking what they do not understand.

Mexico paying for the wall does not mean that they write a check for it... it means that through trade, we use taxes and tarrifs and etc making them pay more for that which then pays us back for the wall that we built.

You just did. As the OP says in the quoted part from the article: "Mexico’s paying for it with trade savings."

It's why the article specifically states "appeared". It's a way to lead the reader into a conclusion.

No, that's not how it works. US-Mexico trade/tariff revenue's could quadruple but unless Congress specifically allocates funds for a physical wall, it's not happening amigo.

Really? Was that included in the "revised NAFTA" they just signed?

With each passing day this issue of the border wall becomes more absurd. Shutting the government down over this is just one part of the story, the incessant misrepresentations of what is going on with funding being another, Trump’s appeal to twitter being icing on the cake.

There is absolutely no way the history books are going to be kind to this President, nor should they.

It has nothing to do with a lack of comprehension. The article specifically leads the reader towards a conclusion. The author knows perfectly well what they're doing.

So, you admit that Congress has to approve of the funding regardless if Mexico pays directly for it or indirectly for it?

Hmm... so you fully admit that the Great Wall Of Trump is now to be built using borrowed funds appropriated by congress in hopes that tax/tariff revenue from future Mexican trade will, somehow, possibly allow a decrease in the national deficit/debt.

Will you loan me $10K? I promise to pay you back, possibly in small increments, just as soon as Mexico pays me - the pending trade deal is sure allow that to happen really, really soon.

I understand. My comment was about Trump's meaning of "Mexico will pay for the Wall".
