Trump confides to friends he's concerned about impeachment

Despite public declarations that he's unconcerned, the president has told people close to him he's alarmed about the prospect of impeachment.

WASHINGTON — Despite President Donald Trump's public declaration that he isn't concerned about impeachment, he has told people close to him in recent days that he is alarmed by the prospect, according to multiple sources.

Trump's fear about the possibility has escalated as the consequences of federal investigations involving his associates and Democratic control of the House sink in, the sources said, and his allies believe maintaining the support of establishment Republicans he bucked to win election is now critical to saving his presidency.
========================================
Surrounded by revelations of his criminality with much more to come, Trump has become concerned about his likely impeachment. With defections among establishment Repub senators & a Dem-controlled House, the possibility is looming large.

Don't you get tired of pushing the same old crap? Day after day week after week? President Trump is going to serve out his first term and run for a 2nd term.

From the article: Republican lawmakers, however, have largely shrugged off the latest twists in the investigations involving Trump’s close associates and have signaled their strong support for him.

Well, I don't care where you get you news, but if you are going to "debate" it, you should be able to back up your assertions with news sources from the grey area below or academic studies.

The problem is that there is a market for political porn --- sites that tell you stuff that you want to hear that just isn't true. These sites pretty much play into people's fantasies with conspiracies and flimsy reporting. These cites are the actual purveyors of fake news, projecting their deficiencies on to newspapers of established international reputation that actually have rigorous processes for discovering and disseminating news. Because of the power of these political porn sites over their readers, most of whom do not wander to far away from the influence of these sites, they perpetuate ignorance and promote anger, making them existential threats to our democracy.

There are way too many posters on DP that clearly read this stuff and believe it. They are reasonably obvious as 1) the assertion in their post is obviously askew from conventional wisdom and 2) when you ask them to back up their statements they don't, because they know they are going to be called out on the sourcing. I will challenge askewed assertions that are not sourced. I want to know where these people get their skewed ideas and perverted thinking.

Any debate (or court of law) needs rules and foundation. There are facts. There is truth. There must be somethings upon which we can agree and measure, otherwise we have social chaos. In stark contrast to political porn, there actually are news organizations that have high professional standards and proven processes for investigating, analyzing and disseminating news.

The chart below is an excellent analysis of news sources.

You will see what it says about the sources that I called out in previous post. Another excellent third party source of news organization analysis is Media Bias/Fact Check - Search and Learn the Bias of News Media. This rating system not only talks about political lean, but also rates the factual integrity of the organization. The latter, frankly, is more important than the former.

The expected reaction to your chart is going to be either

  1. "That damn thing is almost no good because everyone knows that FOX News and Britbart are totally unbiased and at the head of the pack as far as honest reporting of real facts go. What that stupid co-called "chart" does in **F*A*C*T** shows how much the so-called MSM lies."; or
  2. "I already knew that.".

I know.... people that read that smut in the lower right hand corner think that is the truth and everything else is fake, including my chart. People that sit on the far right wing of the airplane think the fuselage is too far to the left. That will not stop me from making the argument, though. If we can not agree on facts or what are authoritative sources of information, we not only do not have a debate, its questionable if we have a society.

We are somewhat at war with people that wish to live in ignorance. While its not a threat if some people want to live in the world of ignorance, its a major threat if too many do. I believe we are currently living with the consequence of too many people living in their ignorant bubbles. We battle daily with people on this site that want to argue solutions for problems that flat out do not exist OR tell us real problems that face our world, those problems don't exist in spite of overwhelming evidence they do....
...so they retreat to their political porn that replenish their fantasies.
