Trump had a bad week, and this is one of the distractionsThe firing prompted swift criticism from economists, former government officials and others, who said the removal would further erode trust in government statistics and make it more difficult for policymakers, investors and businesses, who rely on having dependable data about the economy to make decisions. In addition to the monthly jobs numbers, the Bureau of Labor Statistics is responsible for producing data on inflation, wages and other aspects of the economy.
Trump, Claiming Weak Jobs Numbers Were ‘Rigged,’ Fires Labor Official
Economists said ousting the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics could undermine confidence in government economic data.www.nytimes.com

Visions of dystopian societies: Cuba, the old Soviet Union, East Germany.
From now on, wise people in the government will ask "What does Trump want my report to say?" And they will write their report. East peezy.
All she did was come to work and compile the numbers given to her/her staff from a variety of sources (like RED states).
And Trump just ruined another human because he's evil.
She could get another job but who in the hell wants to be fired (life totally disrupted) for simply coming to work and doing their job appropriately? The persons life is likely not ruined given compilation of accurate reports is a generally useful skillset.

Which then means the most corrupt MAGAs in the country will run that organization that we all depend upon, as we make business decisions, and say whatever Trump wants them to say. It's a dick move to be sure.
I personally would never want to work for someone who would fire me for doing my job appropriately.
If I currently worked for the bureau of labor statistics I would be looking for a different job.

Well, I guess we could depend upon places like Fox News and MSNBC to give numbers so that business owners and stock traders can make informed decisions and not go belly up.It's obviously time we stopped depending on the government to put out real numbers.

You know what assuming does right?I assume that someone is willing to furnish us with real data, it's just a matter of how much we'll have to pay for data we can trust.
You know what assuming does right?
If the data is going to be coming from biased paid entities then we can't trust it.You think a demand like "I need real data on the American economy so I don't lose billions of dollars" is going to go unfulfilled?
There's going to be real data out there, the only question is whether you can afford it.
If the data is going to be coming from biased paid entities then we can't trust it.
Would you trust the data coming from podcasters?
Trump just literally fired the person who put all the data together from places like red states because he wanted the data to be different. That's what this is about. You can pay people to aggregate objective data, it's what the Government was doing.
Places like trading firms already do this because they need MORE data than the government would give them.
Finding an aggregating data that you can trust is a skill set as I said earlier, and quite useful.
