Of course they knew, but they also knew that their cult would believe any bullshit that Trump told them.

Days before lawyers allied with Donald Trump gave a news conference promoting election conspiracy theories, his campaign had determined that many of those claims were false, court filings reveal.

Two weeks after the 2020 election, a team of lawyers closely allied with Donald J. Trump held a widely watched news conference at the Republican Party’s headquarters in Washington. At the event, they laid out a bizarre conspiracy theory claiming that a voting machine company had worked with an election software firm, the financier George Soros and Venezuela to steal the presidential contest from Mr. Trump.

But there was a problem for the Trump team, according to court documents released on Monday evening.

By the time the news conference occurred on Nov. 19, Mr. Trump’s campaign had already prepared an internal memo on many of the outlandish claims about the company, Dominion Voting Systems, and the separate software company, Smartmatic. The memo had determined that those allegations were untrue.

The court papers, which were initially filed late last week as a motion in a defamation lawsuit brought against the campaign and others by a former Dominion employee, Eric Coomer, contain evidence that officials in the Trump campaign were aware early on that many of the claims against the companies were baseless.

Even though the memo was hastily assembled, it rebutted a series of allegations that Ms. Powell and others were making in public. It found:
  • That Dominion did not use voting technology from the software company, Smartmatic, in the 2020 election.
  • That Dominion had no direct ties to Venezuela or to Mr. Soros.
  • And that there was no evidence that Dominion’s leadership had connections to left-wing “antifa” activists, as Ms. Powell and others had claimed.
(OP link).

I wonder who's gonna show up with some crazy claim, such as that it's simultaneously fake news and that there is a memo but ANTIFA drafted it. Oh, wait, or maybe there's "no proof" Trump knew about it, because of course we cannot rationally believe anything about Trump unless he does the bad thing within five feet of the person doing the judging, and even then they're probably just a trump hating liar.

They certainly did wager that, and they were right. A significant number of Americans actually believe the big lie. I think last polling was that it has climbed as high as 78% of Republicans (which is like 23%+- of the population).
I wonder how far this extends into Independents. Democrats know it's B.S., no doubt they barely register in terms of people believing the big lie.

I do hope Dominion wins their law suits against these liars who have threatened the foundations of our democracy.

Once again, Trump plays his rubes for what they are.

It isn't surprising that the Trump campaign knew that the bizarre conspiracy theories about Dominion weren't true. The two Wisconsin counties (Dane and Milwaukee) that the Trump campaign paid for recounts didn't use Dominion.

Look, there were voting irregularities. They may have been blamed on "need" because of covid but many of the changes did not go through the proper process. Votes without signature, without signature match. Votes turned in well after the legal voting timeline ended, extended timelines beyond the legal limit. Violations of ballot harvesting. If the shoe were on the other foot the left would be howling.

You can't fix stupid.

Show me the proof. You are just parroting the bullshit that the cult leader told you.

Has nothing to do with this new internal memo. The lawyers outright lied to the public and the courts. The lawyers are being collectively sued for billions. They will lose these suits. They will lose their licenses.

This adds fuel to the notion that the entire election fraud claims were false. Next up, Trump will be directly sued. He will also lose. This hole deal was a huge conspiracy conjured up by Trump himself and his coconspirators.

Our biggest hurdle now is to figure out a way to convince these ill-informed Trump supporters they were lied to. This makes the little white lie Sussman told to the FBI seem like very minor stuff.

This ought to play quite well with the select committee. I am so looking forward to when the hearings get going. The American people need to know ALL the truth.

What's with all these memos? The 6 Steps to Sedition, and now the Well Duh, Everyone Knows We Made This Shit Up memo. They probably shouldn't have written all this shit down.

People with Integrity and Respect for our nation and democratic process provide proof rather than baseless allegations.

If this and if that. The shoe is not on the other foot. Trump lied to us all. It has caused a huge amount of chaos from the Trump supporters and republicans in general. If Trump had just conceded, none of this shit would be going on. Trump has ruined our social discourse.

Nothing will make them care they were lied to.

Nothing.

And now we find out that Trump called in a constitutional lawyer (Mr. Eastman) to help him draw up a plan for a coup. You can't make this stuff up.

I have one question, where are the criminal charges starting at the top???

Trump has never seen those people in his life...as he throws his crew of fellow traitors under the bus.

Didn't Sidney Powell sort of spilled the beans that it was known but stupid people would buy into it anyways after Dominion cranked up their lawsuit against her? In Trump speak - the art of peddling lies for the advancement of the deliberate stupid.

Trump cult bought it.....

Trump cult bought it.....
Regardless of who bought what, we now have evidence that Trump was involved with lawyers working on a plan for a coup. I am not sure lately, but don't we have laws against that sort of thing here in America? Why are we only talking about all this? Between the new memos, new revelations, the Jan 6th riot attempt to take over congress, why are we only arresting a bunch of trailer trash deplorables? That didn't happen by itself.

This is really gonna kill them in the Dominion lawsuit. And, it is written down, not hearsay. All that shit Rudy claimed about China and Venezuela and Antifa was a bald faced lie, and they all knew it.

Buckle up.
