Trump Books Keep Coming, and Readers Can’t Stop Buying - The New York Times

White House memoirs, journalistic exposés, full-throated defenses of the president: Publishers are producing books for every partisan and wondering if the gravy train ends on Election Day.

Since it was released in May, the latest book in the Hunger Games series, “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” has sold 1.3 million copies, a home run of a best seller by publishing’s standards.

Mary L. Trump’s memoir about her uncle, “Too Much and Never Enough,” outsold it in its first week.

Books about politicians and government are not considered surefire commercial hits. But since President Trump entered office, books about his campaign, his administration, his family, his business, his policies, even his golf game have poured out of publishing houses big and small.

And many of these titles have sold extraordinarily well.

“No matter what your political position, there’s really no doubt that the strong feelings around the Trump administration have pushed book sales in a way we’ve never seen before in the political arena,” said Kristen McLean, the executive director of business development at NPD Books, a market research firm. “The volume of best-selling titles is really remarkable.”

Anyone not in a coma for the last three plus years can save the $30!

After November nobody is really going to care about Trump any longer.

And NONE of those nonsense books will stop Trump from being reelected.

Besides making money for people who don't deserve the money, the only purpose of these books is to prevent Trump from getting reelected. They fail.

Except, of course, maybe some prosecutors
As if there was anything to prosecute. Someone has been lying to you and you bought it.

Not all of the books are from anti-Trumpers. Sean Hannity is still #2 on the NYT hardcover non-fiction list. He debuted at #1.

You will be rather disappointed on Nov 4th.

Yes, the left will eat any food the left throws at them. It's rather quite funny.

Well, not really, there are still three months after November that trump can do more damage, and if he loses you can count on him going off the rails.

Such an ironic claim!

Right wing trash polemics have been peddled by every AM talk radio clown, every cheesy right wing trash blog, and every political group for thirty years.

Guys like Jerome Corsi have made careers making up nonsense for the talk radio audience to suck up.

And they all become “New York Times Bestsellers”. But you weren’t supposed to notice that little asterisk that appears after their titles that says “evidence of bulk buying”.

Probably,

But after Trump, as after Nixon, there will be several semi scholarly works and histories that will take the noise of the last four years and reassemble it on the sequence in which t he events themselves occurred. Then the true extent the Russian operation will slowly reveal itself.

But the other post Trump story will be the open graft.

I have little doubt that the Trump Administration put both the Harding and second Grant Administrations to shame when it comes to graft, influence peddling and giving away public resources to favored patrons at bargain prices.

I doubt that we’ve even scratched the surface there.

I suspect that when we start going through the records of Wilbur Ross, Sonny Purdue, Bill Barr and Ben Carson, we’ll find plenty that still hasn’t seen the public eye.

Readers can't stop buying them because they need the toilet paper.

I have not read a single one. I knew basically nothing about trump before he was elected. I knew he had a casino in atlantic city, I even donated a little money to it on a visit. Every opinion I hold of trump is my opinion based on what I've seen him saying himself and the actions he has taken at different times. His tearing families apart is unforgivable. His tossing paper towels to survivors of a hurricane, deplorable. His pandemic response, who knows how many will be dead before get this thing under control?

I've never said I hate trump, I don't. I do however find it amazing how this grifter of a con man has convinced so many people he's out for them. Sad.

i don't really need a tell all book to know how stupid Dimbulb and his cult are. i think that his former sycophants generally write them to have something to do in jail. i'd rather spend my money on groceries and antacids as i wait for this idiocy to end via the ballot box.

It's a lot like reading about the Titanic or World War II - trying to understand how something so awful could have happened. Or about mafiosos, and their impact on society.

I couldn't agree more. I only hope that the appropriate criminal prosecutions aren't beyond the statutes of limitation.

There has never been a rat like Trump before, people are fascinated that an orange rat can run a cult.

Any yet after half a century in politics, Basement Biden's career and never anything but a side kick has so much done nothing that no one has ever written a book - or even notable article - about him. He should be called "Joe Nobody."

You seem upset at people making money....Socialist? BTW Trump has not a chance at being reelected. He's a 1 term mistake and always has been.

After November nobody is really going to care about Trump any longer.

Yep.....after he is reelected......this nonsense should die down.

Did you buy Sean’s book?
I thumbed through one. The section on US history was well done. Hannity is a simple blue collar guy, but he knows enough to start at the beginning.

You are correct. Trump's shortcomings are so obvious that no amount of books NOR the fact he will not receive a single major newspaper endorsement will matter. Trump will not be re-elected because is lack of fitness for office is obvious to most Americans.

After November nobody is really going to care about Trump any longer.

No, Trump will be studied for 100 years.
