CNN Poll: Trump bears most blame for shutdown]

Protests are targeting the Trump White House.

1/14/19
Amid the longest government shutdown in US history, a majority say Donald Trump bears more responsibility for it than the Democrats in Congress, and the President's disapproval rating has climbed five points since last month, according to a new CNN Poll conducted by SSRS. Negotiations between the President and congressional leaders have stalled as neither side seems willing to budge on funding for a wall along the border with Mexico. That proposal remains deeply unpopular with the public, according to the poll. Overall, 56% oppose a wall, 39% favor it. That's almost exactly the same as in December. And less than half view the situation at the border as a crisis (45% say it's a crisis, 52% that it is not).

Overall, the President's approval rating in the poll stands at 37% approve to 57% disapprove. Disapproval has risen five points since December, while his approval number has held roughly the same. The increase in disapproval for the President comes primarily among whites without college degrees, 45% of whom approve and 47% disapprove, marking the first time his approval rating with this group has been underwater in CNN polling since February 2018. The public generally is more apt to blame the President, with 55% saying he is more responsible for the shutdown than are Democrats in Congress, while 32% say the blame rests mostly with the Democrats.

The second national poll in as many days in which the results say the majority of Americans blame Trump for the government shutdown, the majority of Americans oppose his border wall, and the majority of Americans say the southern border is not a crisis situation. For some inexplicable and stupefying reason, Trump believes he is winning the public relations battle even though numerous polls show the direct opposite, polls showing that Trumps disapproval rating is climbing ... for the first time among uneducated whites which constitute a major segment of Trumps political base. This morning Trump rejected the sage advice of his friend Lindsey Graham to reopen the government. As he goes down, Trump obviously doesn't care if 800,000+ federal workers go down with him.

In other shocking news, water is still wet.

(Most people already agree that Trump primarily owns this shutdown, and Trump himself suggested he would be happy to go down this road.)

Trump is riding a wild tiger and holding on grimly, he can’t afford to let go......

It's only fair. He asked us to blame him. He wanted us to blame him. It's his shutdown, remember?

Why is this even debated? I think the biggest clue in this Who Done It is that Trump ordered the shutdown.

As Sherlock Holmes said , “There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact.”

The ABC poll numbers are in line with other polls conducted over the weekend. Trump is taking a beating. Bet his supporters wish he had never stated he would be proud to shut the goverment down. You just know his staff were cringing when he opened his cake hole and uttered that moronic statement.

Better yet, he's losing support from one of his core constituencies:

The increase in disapproval for the President comes primarily among whites without college degrees, 45% of whom approve and 47% disapprove, marking the first time his approval rating with this group has been underwater in CNN polling since February 2018.

The question is whether that is a dip or a permanent slide. How the tRump shutdown plays out will have an impact on that.

Trump could declare unconditional surrender to Russia. The Russians can build the wall and force the defeated United States to pay for the wall.
