If I were Alaskan, I'd be plenty worried right now.
They should be. Putin has said that everywhere a Russian soldier has set foot is Russian land. He believes Alaska belongs to Russia too. Hosting a indicted war criminal on America land are the optics Putin wants. It makes us look complicit.

The optics will be terrible. Putin will look resolute and Trump will be hunched over like an old man impotent on the world stage.

Putin will give him nothing and laugh all the way back to Gelendzhik.
Putin will once again emerge with a self-satisfied smirk on his face.

It will be interesting to see what they can hash out, but since Trump has managed to make himself look impotent in negotiating with Russia since he's assumed the presidency, I'm not sure what Trump's bringing to the table. Russia's shown nothing to indicate they're willing to agree to any terms that aren't what the US claims to want.

Trump is bringing an indicted war criminal into the United States. UAE wasn't available?

What sort of message does this send to the free world?

Not only has Trump invited a war criminal to the United States, but from what I understand Trump will agree that Putin/Russia be rewarded for its aggression against Ukraine.

Putin's reward will be Ukrainian land and an end to US sanctions on Russia. **** Ukraine. Trump's only goal here is a Nobel Peace Prize.

And if Zelenskyy refuses to capitulte to what are "poison-pill" cease-fire terms, Trump will remove all US assistence to Ukraine (Trump's foreign policy SOP... better understood as extortion).

Seeing how easy Trump is to roll-up, Putin will perhaps next invade Moldovia, and Xi sees a greeen light to invading Taiwan.

Once again the KGB Lt. Colonel shits all over Donald Trump and Trump says "Thank you Vlad, I'll have more of that".

And have Republicans no shame? Is Russia hawk Lindsey Graham okay with this Trump capitulation?

Trump is betraying every American diplomat and US intelligence operative who rolled back the Soviet Union from Europe after WWII.

Trump DNI and Russia-lover Tulsi Gabbard must literally be dancing in the street.

And if you thought Helsinki was a catastrophe, just wait for the joint Trump/Putin Alaska presser.

It's as if the Munich Agreement - which also excluded the victim nation - never happened.

"Putin will perhaps next invade Moldovia, and Xi sees a greeen light to invading Taiwan."

Two for the price of one appeasement!

(Re Taiwan: why not give Xi access to and control of National Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation's high-end chips?)

Hey isn't today the deadline Trump set with Putin for a ceasefire?

For sanctions to go into effect. It was really not so much about sanctions on Russia, but about sanctions on those buying from Russia. The two culprits mentioned were China and India. India is already hit with sanctions

The deadline has been completely ignored by Putin. He's thumbing his nose at Trump.

And our POTUS and CinC is too s-t-u-p-i-d to figure this out.

Moreover, by thumbing his nose at the leader of the USA, putin is effectively insulting all of us in this country.

Yeah, MAGA is freaking s-t-u-p-i-d, too.

Oh man.

UK citizens are gonna have to prove their age to be able to watch the newsreels cause Putin is gonna bend him over and have his way with him, consensually of course.

In reality, though, there is nothing the US can do to save Ukraine. I know that's not what people want to hear/read, but the brutal reality is that Ukraine means more to Russia than it does to the United States and Europe. The US miscalculated when we thought we could supply Ukraine and wear Russia down with sanctions within a year or two.
