Trump Ally Roger Stone Sides With Putin, Claims Russia 'Acting Defensively'

iu

Roger Stone - convicted criminal pardoned by Donald Trump.

3.20.22
Right-wing strategist Roger Stone, a prominent ally of former President Donald Trump, appears to have sided with Russian President Vladimir Putin in support of his invasion of Ukraine—claiming the Kremlin leader is "acting defensively." While polls show that the majority of Americans—Republicans, independents and Democrats—support the Ukrainians as they fight back against Russia's unprovoked aggression, some on the right have expressed views critical of Ukraine. In a Saturday interview on Real America's Voice, Stone took argued that Putin's actions were defensive. "Ukraine is not even remotely about what they are telling us about," he said. "Ukraine is about the fact that the Ukrainians have used their soil to place dual-launch missile pads—missiles that would be aimed at the Soviet Union." In regards to the missile pads, the U.S. has deployed missile defense batteries in Romania and plans to do so in Poland, according to Foreign Policy. However, Ukraine only had decades-old Soviet era missile defense systems at the start of the war, Forbes reported in December.Stone has promoted similar claims about Ukraine and Russia through his Telegram channel as well. "Russian groups are saying they uncovered a plot by Ukrainians to release a biological weapon in the country with NATO's help," a recent post shared by the right-wing strategist said.

Pure Kremlin disinformation and propaganda.

Like Donald Trump and Tucker Carlson, Roger Stone is yet another of Vladimir Putin's useful idiots.

Lol, this guy is such an illiterate moron he called Russia the Soviet Union.

Stone was a key figure in organizing the Brooks Bros Riot that stopped the FL recount during the 2000 Prez election that may have prevented finding enough more votes, only 538, for a John Kerry win. The RW is full of illiterate morons that is moving this country further right while the literate braniac Dems do practically nothing. I guess it's better to sit on one's hands than look like the Keystone Cops trying to defend democracy.

It's one thing to be objectively fair and critical of Ukraine based on the truth.

It's another thing to make up lies in defense of a dictator attacking a democracy.

Traitors. Every last one of them. ****ing traitors.

Donald Trump and Tucker Carlson, Roger Stone = openly support un-American activities = they should be federally indicted and Trump should be stripped of his presidential retirement benefits.

Tump has also been doing Russian money laundering to save his hotels.

Of course he does. If he didn't, that'd be news.

Yeah. I had in mind at the same time John Kerry getting swift-boated. Both cases had impact on the election. However, just as with Hillary, the fault of losing the elections rested with Gore, who eschewed Clinton, a still popular figure in the South, to give himself the appearance of being his own man, and Kerry, who dismissed swift-boat as being below him to fight back.

Correction: It was for an Al Gore win, not a John Kerry win. Thanks to Michael Cole for the correction.

I voted NOTA in both 2000 and '04. Didn't like Kerry, Bush nor Gore. (I hate everybody. lol)

The swiftboating was underhanded, but Kerry did respond, in the most curious way. I really don't like John Kerry (though he may have been a better president than Bush), and this is one reason why:

Kerry "responded" but he didn't fight back. Neither did Dems in general. Swift boating and the Brooks Bros Riot were an attack. The Reps were fighting.

Agreed. The Democrats haven't really fought much. I understand. When your opponents are batshit insane, the reflex is to just shake your head and walk away. What happened to "It's the economy, stupid?" Are Dems afraid to call people stupid?

It's the cult, stupid. Dummy. Ignoramus. Lol.

While I have a problem with Rep/cons attack on democracy, et al, I consider the Dems inaction in defending democracy and themselves self-traitorous. They, and as best as I can guess many posters on this forum, don't understand that the Rep/cons alt-facts and alt-reality is becoming the reality. Just because something is false and unreal doesn't mean you can say it isn't so, ignore it, and it won't happen. Then get together with the other Eloi for a latte and talk about how right you are.
