"Eighteen months after Donald T rump lost the White House, loyal supporters continue to falsely assert that compromised balloting machines across America robbed him of the 2020 election. To stand up that bogus claim, some Trump die-hards are taking the law into their own hands – by attempting, with some success, to compromise the voting systems themselves.

Previously unreported surveillance video captured one such effort in August in the rural Colorado town of Kiowa. Footage obtained by Reuters through a public-records request shows Elbert County Clerk Dallas Schroeder, the county’s top election official, fiddling with cables and typing on his phone as he copied computer drives containing sensitive voting information.Schroeder, a Republican, later testified that he was receiving instructions on how to copy the system’s data from a retired Air Force colonel and political activist bent on proving Trump lost because of fraud.

Schroeder is now under investigation for possible violation of election laws by the Colorado secretary of state, which has also sued him seeking the return of the data. Schroeder is defying that state demand and has refused to identify one of the lawyers who took possession of the hard drives. The other is a private attorney who works with an activist backed by Mike Lindell, the pillow mogul and election conspiracy theorist.

The incidents include a North Carolina case, first reported last week by Reuters, in which a local Republican Party leader threatened to get a top county election official fired or have her pay cut if she didn’t give him unauthorized access to voting equipment. In southern Michigan, a pro-Trump clerk who has expressed support for the QAnon conspiracy theory on social media defied state orders to perform maintenance on a voting machine on the unfounded belief that doing so could erase proof of alleged fraud. In another Michigan case, a Republican activist impersonated an official from a made-up government agency in a plot to seize voting equipment."

This, along with Republican state legislators passing laws that enable them to overturn voting results and make it harder to vote is eroding my faith that the next election outcome will even be valid.

Do any of these people ever look in the mirror?

Well as we've seen time and time again, the ones committing fraud and election crimes have been the Trump-Right. A bunch of unhinged loons who still can't accept that their Dear Leader lost.

The basic "Republican" (whatever that means) strategy appears to be two-fold:

[1] in any election where any candidate OTHER than a "Republican" (whatever that means) wins - claim the whole election was fraudulent and that their candidate is actually the real winner; thereby reducing the credibility of that person as an elected representative;
and
[2] in any election where the "Republican" (whatever that means) wins - claim that the whole election was absolutely perfectly run and that their candidate is the real winner.

This strategy applies REGARDLESS of whether or not the two elections were both voted for on the same ballot.

Around 35% of the American electorate is unable to see the essential lack of logic in that position.

Ayup!

I just duped your thread. I am sorry. ;-)

Will republicans even comment on this?

Republicans aren't going to comment on this, because they think they have a right to breech voting systems....to hell with the law.
I think they will pretend it didn't happen.

No, because the names "Elon Musk" and "Hunter Biden" are not in the subject line.
Isn’t it amazing how the guy that makes electric cars is the new second coming?

They all have magic mirrors that only show what they believe they are not what they truly are.
Nah, they're just willfully blind to themselves and their actions.

So let me get this straight:

To disprove the claim that the election is/was secure the voting machines were proven not secure? Which also happens to be illegal?

Isn’t it amazing how the guy that makes electric cars is the new second coming?

After nearly twenty years of making fun of and condemning Elon Musk, the right wing sheep now bow to him and cheer.

They really are dumb enough to think that some billionaire is going to “give” them “freedom of speech”/

Of course, these same suckers believed in “trickle down” economics for 40 years too.
