That way, if negotiations breakdown, there is no loss of face to the nation or president. So far, there is no "success." Trump is just sticking is neck out and agreeing to a meeting that may never happen. What we are witnessing is lots of talk but no action.

denuclearization to NK means no nukes in the entire region, including ours.I think they'll meet, the question is what comes out of it. If there are some initial agreements on defining what denuclearization means and some kind of time table that would be an accomplishment for sure, but that's going to depend on how hard the US pushes for complete transparency.
What does that mean in terms of action? Making a self-serving declaration that "the USA is not going to be held hostage to NoKo's intercontinental nuclear missiles," is hollow unless Trump is saying that he's going to engage in a first-strike and turn North Korea to glass, create enough fallout to kill most of South Korea and some of China, and have the Chinese reaching for their nuclear button. So, unless Trump is threatening to kill millions of Asians and possibly start a nuclear war, he's just shooting his mouth off.
