Trump aides growing skeptical of Kim summit as South Korea's President visits

Bravo! I have never seen such wimps as right wingers these days. They piss and moan about nothing.

Trumpettes, we warned you about karma. It's going to hit you pretty hard. Get ready.

He's already succeeded in getting further than any other President in your lifetime....Talk about screwing things up, just go back and read your own post.
I disagree. It's the first time a U.S. president has decided to personally conduct preliminary negotiations. Normally, lower level diplomats conduct preliminary negotiations. That way, if negotiations breakdown, there is no loss of face to the nation or president. When there is something actually to sign, then the heads of state are brought in.

So far, there is no "success." Trump is just sticking is neck out and agreeing to a meeting that may never happen. What we are witnessing is lots of talk but no action.

Never fear. John Bolton will save the Kim summit :2razz:

It would be worth having him there just to see what kind of facial expressions we'd get from the North Koreans. I'd like to see what facial expressions are made when having to shake the hand of someone they referred to as "human scum and a bloodsucker".

I think they'll meet, the question is what comes out of it. If there are some initial agreements on defining what denuclearization means and some kind of time table that would be an accomplishment for sure, but that's going to depend on how hard the US pushes for complete transparency.

And we have actually been in a comparable position before with North Korea shutting down a nuclear reactor during talks with Clinton. And then along came Bush with the "Axis of Evil" comment and heated things up again.

Then they agreed again to dismantle .... and then didn't ... yeah, we've been here before as far as "progress" goes.

North Korea needs to feel that they look important. And Trump has given them that bigtime. Along with giving Kim an explicit reason not to denuclearize -- because he doesn't want to end up like Gaddafi.

denuclearization to NK means no nukes in the entire region, including ours.

They may meet, they'll eat the best chocolate cake you've ever had; Trump will get a deal to build a hotel in Ho Chi Min City; Kim will arrange a couple of young girls to service him in his guest quarters and all will be fine.

Well, what would Hillary have done?

How come no mention ever from the hypocritical US and hypocritical Americans about Israel's nukes?

Well, what would Hillary have done?

The same old same old US terrorism and war crimes.

How come there is never any discussion from the grand old hypocrites about Israel's illegal nuclear weapons? Isn't $3billion a pretty big reward for a rogue nation.

If the US, the evil ones who have used them can have them, if India, Pakistan, the UK, France, Russia, can have them then so can Iran.

I think that every South and Central American country should have them to prevent any more of the myriad US illegal invasion on their countries. That is fair, doncha think?

the term "treaty" was not used by the member whose post you quoted. here is the salient excerpt:
... the world can't trust a nuclear deal made with the US. Iran learned that the hard way ...
and tRump has dissolved that negotiated "deal" which deal had theretofore prevented iran from developing nuclear weapons
given that scenario, plus pence saying kim can expect to reap the reward gaddafi experienced after eliminating his nuclear program if NK does not agree to denuclearize, on top of bolton making his typical neocon statements anticipating war, why would it be reasonable for kim/NK to meet our nation's expectations to negotiate away their status as a nuclear power

it did work
at least until early in the dubya misadministration when the USA reneged on the terms of the agreement with NK

How come no mention ever from the hypocritical US and hypocritical Americans about Israel's nukes?

and its refusal to sign the nuclear non-proliferation agreement

China knows tightening the economic screws on China is a popular move.

Americans have always supported their governments' terrorism and war crimes. They mouth the free enterprise/capitalist memes but they never live up to them.

Free enterprise to US businesses means military control of a country by the US, death squads, US installed right wing dictatorships, ... all the things that makes the USA the beacon of freedom.
